Dear IGO/INGO IRT, Attached is the updated draft version 6.4 we will review at ICANN 57 session. You’ll note that we’ve added a statement regarding the scope of this policy at the beginning. We expect the scope confusion to be an ongoing confusion for a while and wanted to make it clear to anyone reading this draft. The document has been simplified with only main two sections now. First section covers Red Cross, IOC, and IGO and the section INGO only. The reason is that reservation of names applies to Red Cross, IOC, and IGO and the Claims apply to INGO. We’ve benefitted from a new member joining the implementation team having a fresh look. Also, all names and languages were removed from the policy and we are looking to the list itself for the names. This way, when names and languages change, we do not need to make changes to the policy. You’ll find a comment in the document on an item we wish to discuss with the IRT. Please allow me to explain this comment to you in person when we meet. Project status wise, we received an updated ECOSOC list from UNDESA this week. We’ve requested a list that contains Full Names in English only per our policy. They’ve tried and provided a shorter list but they couldn’t deliver a list we can use directly unfortunately. So it looks like we still have to go through a manual process to delete the acronyms and non-English names. As for the IGO second language list, I’ve heard that GAC is getting close to completion. I was hoping to receive it by October but it may not arrive in time for our meeting in ICANN57. In any case, our plan has already accounted for adding this later. FYI.
