Hello We talked in DC about the possibility of doing a joint conference on the Friday before the BA meeting. Most people seemed favorably inclined. It would be pretty easy to organize, and there are various options, the path of least resistance being for the three CSG constituencies + NCUC NPOC and NCSG to each organize their own one hour session with some thematic coordination, perhaps complemented by a keynoter, lunch and reception. Alternatively, we could compress it to just an afternoon thing, but then would have to decide how to divide up the time and participation. If we are serious about pursing this, budget requests are due 28 February. In which case it might make sense for the respective groupings to discuss it a bit at their Constituency Day meetings in order to identify their preferred topic and designate someone to help with the budget request. If instead people are having second thoughts, please let the rest of us know so we can consider whether to proceed on a different basis. Hi Bill, I agree this would be a good idea and I hope that we discuss it in our constituency/joint meetings in Singapore. Please, let us add it as an agenda item? Best wishes, Marília On Wed, Jan 28, 2015 at 8:15 AM, William Drake <wjdrake@gmail.com> wrote:

I am confused on one point. If this proposed conference is to take place in conjunction with the Buenos Aires ICANN meeting, that is in the current fiscal year (FY15). The Feb. 28 deadline Bill refers to is for proposals to ICANN for support for activities during FY 16, which begins July 1, 2015. My recollection from the discussion before and during the intersessional was that some FY 15 funds may still be available that could be used to support the conference Bill proposes. I am not sure if there is any deadline for applying for these or just what procedure to follow. May I suggest that we consult ICANN staff (Rob?) to clarify this. The issue is significant, both because of the applicable deadline, and because if this proposal were in competition with other proposals for spending on FY 16 activities, the views of my constituency might be different than if the issue is to apply for unspent FY 15 money. Yes Steve. Sorry, multitasking makes me an idiot. The money is already allocated in FY 15. We don’t need to apply to Xavier, we need to craft a reasonable proposal and give I assume to Rob. Bill
