my first question is “who’s on the list?” i went to the list page (https://mm.icann.org/mailman/listinfo/gnso-ncph-leadership) and discovered that the subscriber list is not only closed to the public, it’s also closed to subscribers. is there any special reason for that, or could we get the subscriber-list made available for us list members?
on the prior thread, we talked about the following folks being included:
- constituency leaders — officers and executive-committee members
- Council members
- GNSO policy staff people
- our Board member
can people think of folks i’ve left off the list?
what’s the list for?
here’s a starter list...
- provide a vehicle for all non-contracted party house leaders to communicate quickly and transparently amongst ourselves
- topics of shared interest across the whole house
- coordination is good, advocacy is good, searching for shared understanding is good
this is sketchy. anything people would like to add (or subtract)?
what we’d like to do
again, a starter list
- find areas where we, “the loyal opposition” house, could collaborate on setting the policy agenda that the GNSO Council then takes up (initial reports, comments on WG reports etc.)
- find ways that we could increase the depth and breadth of volunteers available to participate in working groups
- gain a better understanding of our respective positions and find ways that we can support each other’s views
this is also sketchy. ideas for additions or subtractions?

I guess it depends what we really expect to use it for and whether a large or smaller-n configuration would be better in trying to reach agreement on whatever? Also would be good to know at least roughly how a more expansive approach would affect the overall numerical balance between SGs? For NCUC’s part, if it were just elected EC members being added we’d bring 5, if it were also appointed officers it’d be 9. Similar for other groups? Bill

tell me more about this interesting “advance thinking” concept you’re proposing... :-) maybe we let the “what would we like to do?” conversation run a bit and then decide? that works fine for me. here’s a repeat of my little starter-kit list (which, if that’s what we’re about, which is what was pointing me toward broader participation). i was thinking of this more as a “find ways to coordinate and help each other out” and less a “decide things” list. - find areas where we, “the loyal opposition” house, could collaborate on setting the policy agenda that the GNSO Council then takes up (initial reports, comments on WG reports etc.) - find ways that we could increase the depth and breadth of volunteers available to participate in working groups - gain a better understanding of our respective positions and find ways that we can support each other’s views m On Feb 28, 2014, at 9:51 AM, William Drake <william.drake@uzh.ch> wrote:

hi Avri, yep, you’re right — that wasn’t the best choice of words. i meant it in a collegial way — we are the NON-contracted parties, that is all. good catch. mikey On Feb 28, 2014, at 12:23 PM, Avri Doria <avri@acm.org> wrote:

I think this “advance thinking” would also facilitate the work of the NCPH vice chair. I’m saying this with my own experience in this position. It could help to transform the impression others may have gained from this house. It’s not only a group of people selecting a vice chair and a board rep #14. Hi, Well originally the Houses were just designed as counting constructions for voting in council and for electing the board seat. Then the Council added the responsibility for electing council vice chair to the Houses. And that was done ousing an temporary arrnagement which I think has expired with David's election. So we will need a new process for 2015. Other than that we have never really worked out any commonalities. Most of what we have done has always been on an ad-hoc basis. As long as we have the House construction in the GNSO we might as do something constructive with it. So I think the idea of this list is quite a good start. avri On 28-Feb-14 20:03, WUKnoben wrote:
