Dear DG Members, Further to Ron¹s email, staff also published a draft Work Plan "to describe the set of community reviews and activities underway and planned to support consideration of an additional application process for the next round of generic top-level domain (gTLD) names under the New gTLD Program.² https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-3-2014-09-22-en Best, Steve From: Ron Andruff <randruff@rnapartners.com> Date: Monday, September 22, 2014 at 2:34 PM To: "gnso-newgtld-dg@icann.org" <gnso-newgtld-dg@icann.org> Subject: [Gnso-newgtld-dg] FW: Latest report on gTLDs from ICANN staff Dear all, This report (attached) from staff will hopefully add some value to the reality of this DG¹s timeline considerations. In short: ³As of this writing, 404 new gTLDs have been delegated. A total of 1,168 applicants have been invited to contracting. Of those applications in string contention sets, 49% remain subject to contention resolution procedures, which are forecast to be completed by the third quarter of 2016. ICANN anticipates contracting to be completed by the end of 2016, and pre-delegation testing by early 2017, before completing all the new delegations by mid-2017.² Kind regards, RA Ron Andruff dotSport LLC www.lifedotsport.com <http://www.lifedotsport.com>
