Cat C draft template

Hello, Steve, Graeme, Marika, Mary, and I have gone back and forth a few times developing a template to capture Category C discussions. We see a lot of agreement within the WG but capturing the disagreements properly presented challenges. As a result, I am sending draft template language covering the threshold through C.2 instead of the usual completed grid. Please review it carefully and respond on the list as much as possible. Discussion tomorrow hopefully will focus on C.3 and D.1. That’s easy for me to say, as I will be on an airplane tomorrow morning (again). :) Graeme also has to miss the call. Regards, Don

Hi Don, I still do not think "overwhelming majority" is an appropriate descriptor (and potentially not accurate) given that the GNSO has terms for properly determined levels of consensus (and a procedure by which to determine them). We discussed this last week and Marika provided a link to the GNSO guidelines. Talk to you all on the call. Thanks, Kiran Kiran Malancharuvil Internet Policy Counselor MarkMonitor 415-419-9138 (m) Sent from my mobile, please excuse any typos.

It's not up to be to suggest to when there are clear guidelines to be followed. All, Sometimes organization speak, ICANN and elsewhere, gets in the way of communication. To me, the templates are descriptions of the discussions and attempts to describe where the group is in the way of agreement or lack of it. ICANN definitions don't cover all possible nuances. We will adhere to GNSO terms as we do final cataloguing and start to write. In the meantime, as I suggested to Kiran perhaps to abruptly, suggest amendments to language of you think they are needed.. Talk to you next week. Don. PS I'm writing but not in the call because I am in a plane waiting for departure.
