I agree that if all existing whois policy were to ultimately be replaced by the RDS, the existing provisions would have to be adopted or adapted. I also do not in general object to improvements of accuracy going forward. I do however note that any migration to the new system will include legacy data that may be outdated, incorrect or incomplete. Fixing the existing data may prove near impossible at worst and very expensive at best. That statement will be true if we ultimately conclude that the current system is adequate and that we do not recommend establishment of a new RDS. However, if we do recommend a new system, then improvements to data accuracy are very much on the table, as the charter provision quoted by Marika indicates.
