Staff has reviewed the timing of the 21 January GNSO Council meeting, at which the candidate for the Liaison position would be considered given that with any extension it will be too late to be considered at the December Council meeting. Unfortunately, considering the timing of the holidays at the end of December, if we extend the call until 23 December the SSC would not likely be able to begin its evaluation until the beginning of January. Depending on the number of EOIs, it might not be possible for the SSC to complete its evaluation in time for the January Council meeting. Thus, staff suggests a 2-week extension at this time. We have checked with the GNSO Council leadership and they are supportive of a 2-week extension. We’ll get a revised call for EOIs and candidate application materials out to the community later today.
