I know this is a busy time for many of you with ICANN63 coming up, but this will need to be quite a quick process with action required on your part in the next two weeks (details below). Please fill out this doodle<https://doodle.com/poll/wqfawm2xaqi8iw34> to help us schedule an SSC meeting to complete this process in early November and look out for additional emails with instructions about evaluating the candidates prior to the meeting. Last year the SSC went through a selection process to recommend candidates for the ATRT3 (details here<https://community.icann.org/display/GSSC/ATRT3>). Dear SSC members, A couple of points of clarification for your consideration – * The RySG has clarified that they will be endorsing with equal weight two candidates for this process. Erica Varlese, a candidate from last year who has submitted updated materials during this application period and Patrick Kane, a new applicant. * The SSC has the opportunity to consider the full slate of candidates, both existing from the last application round and new. Therefore, it is important to review materials from all candidates included on the wiki before you complete the poll. The SSC may choose to adjust the full slate in addition to filling vacancies to ensure diversity of representation and skill set. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Dear SSC members,
Staff has prepared a draft survey to support the upcoming ATRT3 selection process for your review (see my previous email below for details). This draft survey is very similar to the one used last year for the original ATRT3 selection process, but this time it will include names of those from the previous selection process who are still available as well as any new candidates who submit applications by the 30 October deadline. A preview of the draft survey is available here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Preview/?sm=p9OjvjvM1SeKr_2B9KF6S8N6RUDcci_2F... <https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Preview/?sm=p9OjvjvM1SeKr_2B9KF6S8N6RUDcci_2F...>
If you have any concerns about the format of this survey, please raise them on list before the application deadline of October 30. After that, staff will fill in the candidate names and open the survey for your input.
Note that we have not yet received any new applications through the EOI process, but we will post them as they are received so you can get a head start on reviewing them. You may want to refresh your memory on the existing candidates from the last selection process. All of the relevant materials are and will continue to be posted here: https://community.icann.org/x/rg_8BQ <https://community.icann.org/x/rg_8BQ>

Dear SSC members,
The GNSO Council has asked the SSC to take on a selection process in the coming weeks related to the re-scheduled start of the Third Review of ICANN Accountability and Transparency (ATRT3) <https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2017-01-31-en>. I know this is a busy time for many of you with ICANN63 coming up, but this will need to be quite a quick process with action required on your part in the next two weeks (details below). Please fill out this doodle <https://doodle.com/poll/wqfawm2xaqi8iw34> to help us schedule an SSC meeting to complete this process in early November and look out for additional emails with instructions about evaluating the candidates prior to the meeting.
Last year the SSC went through a selection process to recommend candidates for the ATRT3 (details here <https://community.icann.org/display/GSSC/ATRT3>). The start of the ATRT3 was then delayed to allow for conversations and public consultation on the schedule of ICANN reviews (see public comments on short-term <https://www.icann.org/public-comments/specific-reviews-short-term-timeline-2...> and long-term <https://www.icann.org/public-comments/reviews-long-term-timeline-2018-05-14-...> options to adjust the timeline of reviews). ICANN Org is now recommending to the Board <https://www.icann.org/public-comments/reviews-next-steps-2018-09-05-en> that that ATRT3 begin in January 2019. The GNSO has been asked to finalize its slate of candidates by 31 October, but we are working to find a little more flexibility in this deadline.
Some time has passed since the original call for volunteers, and the GNSO is now asking the SSC to ensure that the GNSO has a full slate of candidates to put forward. At a minimum, two of the original primary candidates and at least one of the additional candidates will need to be replaced:
Original primary candidates: Wolfgang Kleinwaechter (NCUC): Available Brian Cute (RySG): Replacement needed Stéphane Van Gelder (RySG): Replacement needed
Original secondary candidates: Dr. Tatiana Tropina (NCUC): Replacement needed Michael Karanicolas (NCUC): Available Adetola Sogbesan (BC): Available Erica Varlese (RySG): Available
The SSC may also choose to re-evaluate the full slate of secondary candidates in light of new applications to ensure balance of skills and experience in the pool of candidates.
An Expression of Interest is now open <https://gnso.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-11oct18-en.htm> with a deadline of 30 October. As applications are received, they will be shared with you to review. You will be asked to fill in a SurveyMonkey poll to evaluate the candidates as soon as the deadline has passed. The SSC will then complete the selection process in a meeting scheduled in early November (please complete the doodle <https://doodle.com/poll/wqfawm2xaqi8iw34> to assist with scheduling).
Additional information will follow soon, but if you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to raise them on the mailing list.

Hi, I don't think that will be fair for those candidates who applied previously to ask them for endorsement now as they were only reached previously to confirm availability. so I won't support giving weight. I am also concerned since my understanding is we are trying to fill the vacancy and not changing the whole slate. for example, Wolfgang is already among primary candidates and I don't see why he should go again through the same process (the message from Emily confirm my understanding). The selection among the new candidates should be only for the 2 primary slots and the one among the rest of the slate for secondary candidates. Hi Rafik, If we do not want to use weight to ensure that priority is given to the candidates endorsed by SO/ACs, then we might start comparison only of those, who have endorsement, to follow what was written in EOI call. (priority for the endorsed candidates). If we do not want to follow what we wrote - we have few problems (including the one with the SO/ACs, which endorsed the candidates). P.s: full change was an option, and I am not saying that it is the only one, and I believe that we will find the solution, which would allow ATRT3 to have well balanced set of members with good representation of community with relevant experience. The RySG has clarified that they will be endorsing with equal weight two candidates for this process. Erica Varlese, a candidate from last year who has submitted updated materials during this application period and Patrick Kane, a new applicant. The SSC has the opportunity to consider the full slate of candidates, both existing from the last application round and new. Therefore, it is important to review materials from all candidates included on the wiki before you complete the poll. The SSC may choose to adjust the full slate in addition to filling vacancies to ensure diversity of representation and skill set.

[surveymonkey.com] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.surveymonkey.com_r_...>
Dear SSC members,
The GNSO Council has asked the SSC to take on a selection process in the coming weeks related to the re-scheduled start of the Third Review of ICANN Accountability and Transparency (ATRT3) [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_news_anno...>. I know this is a busy time for many of you with ICANN63 coming up, but this will need to be quite a quick process with action required on your part in the next two weeks (details below). Please fill out this doodle [doodle.com] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__doodle.com_poll_wqfawm2...> to help us schedule an SSC meeting to complete this process in early November and look out for additional emails with instructions about evaluating the candidates prior to the meeting.
Last year the SSC went through a selection process to recommend candidates for the ATRT3 (details here <https://community.icann.org/display/GSSC/ATRT3>). The start of the ATRT3 was then delayed to allow for conversations and public consultation on the schedule of ICANN reviews (see public comments on short-term [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_public-2D...> and long-term [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_public-2D...> options to adjust the timeline of reviews). ICANN Org is now recommending to the Board [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_public-2D...> that that ATRT3 begin in January 2019.
Original primary candidates:
Wolfgang Kleinwaechter (NCUC): Available
Brian Cute (RySG): Replacement needed
Stéphane Van Gelder (RySG): Replacement needed
Original secondary candidates:
Dr. Tatiana Tropina (NCUC): Replacement needed
Michael Karanicolas (NCUC): Available
Adetola Sogbesan (BC): Available
Erica Varlese (RySG): Available
The SSC may also choose to re-evaluate the full slate of secondary candidates in light of new applications to ensure balance of skills and experience in the pool of candidates.
An Expression of Interest is now open [gnso.icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__gnso.icann.org_en_annou...> with a deadline of 30 October. As applications are received, they will be shared with you to review. You will be asked to fill in a SurveyMonkey poll to evaluate the candidates as soon as the deadline has passed. The SSC will then complete the selection process in a meeting scheduled in early November (please complete the doodle [doodle.com] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__doodle.com_poll_wqfawm2...> to assist with scheduling).
Additional information will follow soon, but if you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to raise them on the mailing list.
Kind regards,
Emily

As a result, it may be worth asking the NCUC and BC reps on this group to confirm whether the original candidates (Wolfgang Kleinwaechter, Michael Karanicolas, both NCUC, and Adetola Sogbesan, BC) were endorsed or are being endorsed to help inform the selection process?
Best regards,
Marika

Dear Team,
I have an auto-reply from Emily, that she is not be available until Monday, and it will be quite late, given the deadline of the voting (5th NOV 2018).
Please help us with those questions:
please confirm, which candidates from https://community.icann.org/display/GSSC/ATRT3+-2018 (the first part of the list from 2017) had support of SO/ACs.
and notice from me:
I believe that all candidates, endorsed by SO/ACs should be processed, and the weight of the voting should be higher for the volunteers without endorsement
to properly follow words of EOI call 'priority will be given to candidates who receive endorsement from a Stakeholder Group and/or Constituency'.

Dear SSC members,
A couple of points of clarification for your consideration –
* The RySG has clarified that they will be endorsing with equal weight two candidates for this process. Erica Varlese, a candidate from last year who has submitted updated materials during this application period and Patrick Kane, a new applicant. * The SSC has the opportunity to consider the full slate of candidates, both existing from the last application round and new. Therefore, it is important to review materials from_all_candidates included on the wiki before you complete the poll. The SSC may choose to adjust the full slate in addition to filling vacancies to ensure diversity of representation and skill set.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind regards,
Emily

Dear SSC members,
Staff has prepared a draft survey to support the upcoming ATRT3 selection process for your review (see my previous email below for details). This draft survey is very similar to the one used last year for the original ATRT3 selection process, but this time it will include names of those from the previous selection process who are still available as well as any new candidates who submit applications by the 30 October deadline. A preview of the draft survey is available here:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Preview/?sm=p9OjvjvM1SeKr_2B9KF6S8N6RUDcci_2F... [surveymonkey.com] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.surveymonkey.com_r_...>
*If you have any concerns about the format of this survey, please raise them on list before the application deadline of**_October 30_*. After that, staff will fill in the candidate names and open the survey for your input.
Note that we have not yet received any new applications through the EOI process, but we will post them as they are received so you can get a head start on reviewing them. You may want to refresh your memory on the existing candidates from the last selection process. All of the relevant materials are and will continue to be posted here:https://community.icann.org/x/rg_8BQ
Kind regards,
Emily

Dear SSC members,
The GNSO Council has asked the SSC to take on a selection process in the coming weeks related to the re-scheduled start of theThird Review of ICANN Accountability and Transparency (ATRT3) [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_news_anno...>. I know this is a busy time for many of you with ICANN63 coming up,*but this will need to be quite a quick process with action required on your part in the next two weeks*(details below).*Please fill out thisdoodle [doodle.com] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__doodle.com_poll_wqfawm2xaqi8iw34&d=DwMFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=7_PQAir-9nJQ2uB2cWiTDDDo5Hfy5HL9rSTe65iXLVM&m=6Xs9C4JMpFQ5no8z-jDalOp5qorutI6r3-kVd65RFTw&s=STx1cnZE_o0_Afu-NLMew1ODIUbiMpQHzWoF43oRpa4&e=>to help us schedule an SSC meeting to complete this process in early November and look out for additional emails with instructions about evaluating the candidates prior to the meeting.*
Last year the SSC went through a selection process to recommend candidates for the ATRT3 (detailshere <https://community.icann.org/display/GSSC/ATRT3>). The start of the ATRT3 was then delayed to allow for conversations and public consultation on the schedule of ICANN reviews (see public comments onshort-term [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_public-2Dcomments_specific-2Dreviews-2Dshort-2Dterm-2Dtimeline-2D2018-2D05-2D14-2Den&d=DwMFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=7_PQAir-9nJQ2uB2cWiTDDDo5Hfy5HL9rSTe65iXLVM&m=6Xs9C4JMpFQ5no8z-jDalOp5qorutI6r3-kVd65RFTw&s=ZvO2IfNit4XMHbXtjtRIY1flrUfh1eo8LXudmPamuAE&e=>andlong-term [icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_public-2Dcomments_reviews-2Dlong-2Dterm-2Dtimeline-2D2018-2D05-2D14-2Den&d=DwMFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=7_PQAir-9nJQ2uB2cWiTDDDo5Hfy5HL9rSTe65iXLVM&m=6Xs9C4JMpFQ5no8z-jDalOp5qorutI6r3-kVd65RFTw&s=yhE13b2ihVTpH3XvyS-LhSEN9fJyMSoJSv85xfixZjg&e=>options to adjust the timeline of reviews).
_Original primary candidates:_
Wolfgang Kleinwaechter (NCUC): Available
Brian Cute (RySG):Replacement needed
Stéphane Van Gelder (RySG): Replacement needed
_Original secondary candidates:_
Dr. Tatiana Tropina (NCUC): Replacement needed
Michael Karanicolas (NCUC): Available
Adetola Sogbesan (BC): Available
Erica Varlese (RySG): Available
The SSC may also choose to re-evaluate the full slate of secondary candidates in light of new applications to ensure balance of skills and experience in the pool of candidates.
AnExpression of Interest is now open [gnso.icann.org] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__gnso.icann.org_en_announcements_announcement-2D11oct18-2Den.htm&d=DwMFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=7_PQAir-9nJQ2uB2cWiTDDDo5Hfy5HL9rSTe65iXLVM&m=6Xs9C4JMpFQ5no8z-jDalOp5qorutI6r3-kVd65RFTw&s=-9dxHlSneU5ex9Wm-9SEtrIofFNwRKobafFBiGZJRNE&e=>with a deadline of 30 October. As applications are received, they will be shared with you to review. You will be asked to fill in a SurveyMonkey poll to evaluate the candidates as soon as the deadline has passed. The SSC will then complete the selection process in a meeting scheduled in early November (please complete thedoodle [doodle.com] <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__doodle.com_poll_wqfawm2xaqi8iw34&d=DwMFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=7_PQAir-9nJQ2uB2cWiTDDDo5Hfy5HL9rSTe65iXLVM&m=6Xs9C4JMpFQ5no8z-jDalOp5qorutI6r3-kVd65RFTw&s=STx1cnZE_o0_Afu-NLMew1ODIUbiMpQHzWoF43oRpa4&e=>to assist with scheduling).
Additional information will follow soon, but if you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to raise them on the mailing list.
