Hi Roberto Thanks for your interest in the IDN Working Group. This WG is active occasionally, for instance when there is a technical issue to be discussed within At-Large. It is not active on a day-to-day basis. A part of IDN-related issues has been subsumed within the UAI, whereas as the technical details such as LGRs/GPs are directly run by the ICANN IDN program. Individuals within this group are, however, active in this forum. The UASG was set up to discuss *all* aspects of Universal Acceptance, including Search engines and UI/UX aspects. Any questions on these aspects are perhaps best handled in their group. However, pls feel to raise any issue here that you believe is of consequence to the global end-user community *vis-à-vis* IDNs. I subscribed recently to this mailing list because I have some interest in Universal Acceptance and in particular on IDNs, but I am realising that this list has been inactive for quite some time. I was wondering whether there are people who believe, like me, that this topic is still actual and whether it is worth relaunching the discussion. I am following the work of the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) and I see that the issues are tackled from the technical POV. Moreover, the discussion is often limited to the DNS-related aspects, not taking into account issues related to, for instance, search engines. Last but not least, there is little that is discussed about the impact that UA - or rather the lack thereof - has on development and deployment of local content. In summary, what I reckon is that the overarching problem of the impact on users is seriously lacking. I have more to say on this, but for the time being I am only checking whether this is the right forum for getting into details or whether something else would be more appropriate and more effective.
