Draft short version of the minutes for third ICG face-to-face meeting, 17 October 2014
Hello all I have just completed the draft short version of the minutes. These are very short (6 pages for a full day's meeting) and do not show detail of the discussion, but as requested in the meeting today, focus on providing a little bit of context to the actions and decisions of the meeting. The short version of the minutes can be found on Dropbox: <https://www.dropbox.com/s/u6purzwddud2hl7/short-minutes-third-f2f-meeting-17...> I hope you all have a safe journey home. Regards Sam
Thank you Samantha for the excellent summary of what transpired at the f2f meeting of the ICG on the 17th October. The Action points are so very helpful for followup. Many thanks Samantha !! Just one remark, the decisions states: 1. "ICG to publish a version of the ICG FAQ online before ICANN 51, making it clear that it is a living document." Is this meant to be ICANN 52? Thanks for picking that up. That shouldn't have been there at all, but was accidently carried over when I copied and pasted the format of the previous minutes. I've now deleted it. Regards Sam On 19 October 2014 21:32, Manal Ismail <manal@tra.gov.eg> wrote:

Thanks Samantha. ICG members: I thought what we agreed as far as publishing something immediately out of the meeting was to publish just the Decisions and Action Items, in a way that they could be understood by the public and people who didn’t attend/watch the meeting. I thought this was more along the lines of what Lynn was suggesting, so that the public could understand what was achieved at the meeting without having to read even several pages of minutes. Did I misunderstand? Thanks, Alissa On Oct 18, 2014, at 12:57 AM, Samantha Dickinson <samantha@linguasynaptica.com> wrote:

Hello Alissa I used an extra short minutes format based on the discussion at the end of the meeting. The transcript of the meeting aren't on the website yet, but I captured them from the live version:
ALISSA COOPER: THANK YOU. OKAY. IT SEEMS THAT WE HAVE PEOPLE SHAKING THEIR HEADS, SOME PEOPLE GIVING THE THUMBS UP. WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THIS SUGGESTION THAT WE DO SORT OF MINUTES ON THE WEB SITE AS THE COMPROMISE, I GUESS. THAT'S THE COMPROMISE YOU SUGGESTED. JOE? BRIEF MINUTES ON THE WEB SITE. YES, OKAY. AND ARE WE OKAY WITH, SAY, ASKING SAMANTHA TO TRY AND AUTHOR THESE AND CIRCULATE TO US? FOR TODAY, OBVIOUSLY, YEAH. THAT'S WHAT I'M THINKING ABOUT. HOW DO WE DO THIS FOR TODAY. YEAH, ARE YOU OKAY TO DO THAT? YOU CAN SAY NO. SAMANTHA: IN THE FULL SET OF MINUTES. ALISSA COOPER: NO, NO, NO, LIKE THE EMAIL WITH A FEW MORE SENTENCES. KAVOUSS ARASTEH: NO PROBLEM WITH DRAFT MINUTES, BUT WE HAVE TO HAVE A DISCLAIMER THAT THIS DRAFT MINUTE THAT THIS DRAFT IS SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION
Please advise what you would like me to do. Regards Sam On 21 October 2014 10:26, Alissa Cooper <alissa@cooperw.in> wrote:

Thanks Samantha for the excellent minutes! Alissa my opinion is that this short format is suitable for both teleconferences and f2f meetings. This was also my understanding, and we did not want to establish the precedent that this would be done for meetings that weren¹t face-to-face (teleconferences). Thanks‹ J. On 10/20/14, 19:26 , "Alissa Cooper" <alissa@cooperw.in> wrote:
