Hello IRT, I am writing to update you on the status of the proposed Urgent Request timeline language. This topic, along with next steps for integrating authentication mechanisms, was discussed extensively at ICANN85. Following informal conversations between the Board Data Protection and Privacy Caucus and GNSO Council, the GNSO held additional follow-up discussions amongst its different stakeholder groups. The GNSO Council is now considering steps including (1) confirming that implementation of the response timeline language incorporating the authentication mechanism is consistent with Expedited Policy Development Process (EPDP) Phase 1 Recommendation 18, and (2) a set of options for implementing authentication mechanisms for Urgent Requests. The GNSO Council will discuss these steps at its upcoming 16 April meeting. ICANN org is preparing to update the Registration Data Policy<https://www.icann.org/en/contracted-parties/consensus-policies/registration-...> with the 24-hour timeline Urgent Request timeline language, pending communication from the GNSO Council confirming the outcomes of its discussion. We will provide another update to the IRT once the GNSO Council has decided how to proceed. Thank you all for your commitment and contributions to this important work!
