Sylvia I don't understand what your problem is - the votes were counted correctly in the GA, the weights were calculated wrongly, and the Returning Officer for the election later indicated that and also indicated the correct result of the calculated vote. The returning officer is usually in charge of the election results until they are checked and certified. This rarely happens immediately (at least in all elections that I have been a part of, and they have been MANY, including one in Brazil), so the story about the Secretariat not being in office after the day of GA is irrelevant, as I believe that Carlton was acting in his capacity of returning officer of the election. And there is no sense to the point about appointing or dismissing, as the only thing that I can see that he did was to indicate the TRUE and CORRECT result of the vote of the GA. (As opposed to the INCORRECT tally caused by a mathematical error) If the arithmetic error is allowed to stand, it will be a gross miscarriage of democracy, in that the intention of the vote as cast by the members of the GA would be discarded and whoever calculated wrongly would be the one deciding the election. So all anyone would have to do to steal an election in the future would be to tamper with the spreadsheet and hence adjust the calculated vote as opposed to the actual votes! Dear Sylvia: I'm afraid this pronouncement gives me great concern that you will be situated to represent ALL of LACRALO on the ALAC. For this instance alone, I shall give you the benefit of my doubt and ascribe what you say as simple ignorance of the process and not a result of your fraternal relationship to Internauta Argentina and Sergio Salinas Porto. I trust this hope I have is not betrayed. Please read the outline of the election process as I described to another of your partisans Cristian Casas and which I earlier committed to this list. I see Jacqueline Morris, lately the ALAC Chair, has also attempted to set you straight. If you still don't understand, I am certain Nick Ashton-Hart or any other member of his team would be willing to go over it with you. I would highly recommend that before you assume your ALAC responsibilities, you become more familiar with the rules governing LACRALO and how they empower your action as a member of ALAC. I will tell you from observation its a tight ship thats run up that way. And as our LACRALO representative, I would personally not wish for you to be disadvantaged in this way.
