Estimados Colegas de LACRALO Mismo que sea en este ultimo minuto Yo he adicionado mi nombre a vuestra consideración para permanecer como vuestro (de LACRALO) representante en el NOMCOM. Este año el NOMCOM logro tener un numero superior de candidatos, principalmente porque fue contractado un head hunter - lo mismo head hunter que encontró Fadi para CEO de ICANN) Todavía aun tenemos muy poca participación de nuestra región para los cargos de la Junta Directiva pero tuvimos una buena participación para las demás posiciones y un numero relevante de candidatos para el ALAC. Aunque tenga informado regularmente sobre las actividades de NOMCOM, hay ciertas peculiaridades que no se ve desde afuera: hay un enorme trabajo principalmente en estos meses después del encerramiento de las aplicaciones, donde es necesario leer todas las aplicaciones, los currículos, referencias y informaciones adicionales, sin romper el sigilo del candidato, seguidas votaciones e conferencias semanales hasta el final del trabajo que no debe ultrapasar el final del segundo encuentro del año de ICANN. Otro dato que no es claro a todos es que la participación de los miembros de NOMCOM en los meetings de ICANN es totalmente dependiente de la decisión interna del presidente del comité y su grupo, como ya fue muchas veces en diversos años cuando el NOMCOM se reúne afuera de los meetings y todavía mismo si decidido que van a participar, NOMCOM solamente participa de los dos primeros eventos del año. Mi postulación para permanecer como representante de LACRALO en el NOMCOM es basado en el conocimiento que esta es una posición adonde mayor experiencia en todas las áreas de ICANN es importante porque se esta seleccionando personas para las posiciones de liderazgo de estas posiciones, en especial la Junta directiva y uno que participa en el NOMCOM no puede todavía candidatearse a ninguna posición de liderazgo en ICANN en general. Como creo que las posiciones de liderazgo son para nos nuevos, no tengo la intención de disputar tales posiciones, entonces me siento más libre para estar en NOMCOM de forma más independiente. Gracias por su atención, Vanda Scartezini Dear Colleagues of LACRALO Even at this last moment, I put my name to your consideration to continue as your (LACRALO) representative of NOMCOM. In fact this year we had a huge number due especially the contract a head hunter effort the same head hunter that have found Fadi to be ICANN CEO. We still having small participation of Board candidates from our region but we had good participation for all other positions and a relevant number of candidates for ALAC. Though I have send regularly information about NOMCOM , there are some peculiarities had to see from outside: there is a huge work especially after the application period closes, when is demanded to read all applications, curriculums and references and all additional information without disclosure the candidate¹s confidentiality , participate in weekly call and vote several times till the end of the task that shall clos no after the end of the second ICANN general meeting in the year. Another information not so clear to all is that the participation in ICANN meetings is not mandatory for NOMCOM members and is up to the discretion of the chair and the majority of the group and have happened several times. Whatever decision NOMCOM members only participate in the two first meetings of the year. My application to remain as representative of LACRALO at NOMCOM is based on my knowledge that this is a position where higher experience in all areas of ICANN is relevant since you will be selecting persons for leadership positions, especially for the Board, and who is in NOMCOM can not be a candidate any leadership position in ICANN while in NOMCOM. Since I believe these leadership positions should be more and more taken by new members of our community and I have no intention to dispute them, I feel more free to be in NOMCOM with more independence.
