Dear All, Having reviewed the request, I support its approval in the full amount requested. While it is appropriate to apply equitable distribution criteria, including prorating, in scenarios where multiple requests are under consideration, this does not appear to be the case in the current context. We are at an advanced stage of FY26, with no indication of other requests currently in the pipeline within the region, and with limited time remaining for the submission, evaluation, and implementation of new activities before the close of the fiscal year. In this regard, ensuring effective utilization of the resources allocated to the region becomes a priority. The request was submitted on 2 April 2026, in compliance with the advance notice requirements, and the event is scheduled for 18 May 2026, allowing for implementation within the current fiscal year. In this context, applying prorating or reducing the requested amount would not necessarily lead to a more effective use of the available resources and could, on the contrary, increase the risk of underutilization at the close of FY26. Additionally, the proposal is aligned with LACRALO’s outreach objectives and ICANN’s regional engagement priorities. In light of the above, approving the full amount requested appears consistent with sound and efficient management of the available funds at this stage of the budget cycle. I would like to point out that the request of $2,000, if approved, would consist of half of the total allocated annual funds.
Some RALOs have limited allocation to $1,000 per requestor to allow support of other regional requests.
