[MEAC-SWG] Public comment/ ICANN Engagement Strategy in the Middle East and Adjoining Countries
by Hudhayfa Bustanji Oct. 30, 2016

Oct. 30, 2016
Dear MEAC members, Its my pleasure to provide you with some comments regarding the draft of Middle East and Adjoining Countries Strategy document, hope you find these comments well:- 1-   MEAC-SWG strategy is to “Attract more active and engaged participants from the MEAC region to contribute to ICANN's policy development processes and to acquire leading roles within the ICANN community.”. ( Its important to note that the engagement of the participants shall include most cities of each country. usually, these initiatives only reach to the people who are in capital cities, especially those have a background on ICANN roles. I think you have to be with aware persons from poor cities in MENA region.2- As you stated in your objective regarding "training trainers from the region and support them to become lead trainers". I think you have to provide these trainers with such advanced course regarding ICANN, its better to make tests for them in order to do their mission perfectly, i also would like to recommend providing them with a moral and financial awards. the justification of this comment is that the trainer must have a motivation to do such training program.  3- To activate your objectives, you can contact with some universities in MENA region to prepare such collaboration agreement to make training courses or making such events regarding ICANN and its missions, especially students usually have an acceptable response to these events. Best regards.  Huthaifa Albustanji

[MEAC-SWG] comments : Draft Middle East and Adjoining Countries Strategy document
by Wael Nasr Oct. 30, 2016

Oct. 30, 2016
Sirs, i would like to comment on the Draft Middle East and Adjoining Countries Strategy document section 5.2 domain name market place metrics should include: 1- the metrics should reflect the number of domain names registered in the Middle East 2- the metrics should reflect the number of IDN Arabic domains names registered globally 3- the metrics should reflect the number of IDN Arabic domain names registered in the Middle East 4- the metrics should reflect the number of domain names disputes in the middle east 5- the metrics should reflect the number of IDN Arabic TLDs in the first and second round. Section 5.3 ICANNs roles metrics section should include 1- evaluation of social media comments and press comments on ICANNs role. This is key as the current impression of icann role should be monitored and improved regularly . 2- comments on ICANNs and press releases related to ICANN coming out from Telecom regulatory authorities and government bodies -- --------------------------- Wael Nasr SVP - TLDVIilla LLC http://icannwiki.com/Wael_Nasr http://www.linkedin.com/in/nasrwael US Office : +1 209 682 5144. [MEAC-SWG] Fw: [igmena] Fwd: [MEAC SWG] ICANN and CCK Collaborate on a Youth Education Initiative in Tunisia
by Mohamed Nasif Oct. 27, 2016

Oct. 27, 2016
Dear Maec, Good evening. With reference to the email below, could you please help me to take part in these workshops. Basically, I am doing my master degree in Cyber Security in Estonia at the moment - First year - and I am from Egypt. Understanding ICANN activities in the region is quite crucial to me for several aspects. That's why I am interested in taking part in relevant workshops in MENA. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best wishes Mohamed ________________________________ From: Michael Oghia <mike.oghia(a)gmail.com> Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2016 4:31 PM To: Mohamed Nasif Subject: Re: [igmena] Fwd: [MEAC SWG] ICANN and CCK Collaborate on a Youth Education Initiative in Tunisia Hi Mohamed, In this specific instance, you can email meac.swg(a)icann.org<mailto:meac.swg@icann.org> for more information.
