Worth noting are the following sessions: Tech Day | 07.00 – 12.00 UTC Technical Workshop, with presentations, discussions and hands-on demonstrations in an interactive format. Open to anyone interested in technical topics related to registry work, security etc. The Domain Name Business: Everything You Want to Know, Ask or Discuss | 08.30 – 10.00 UTC This education, outreach, and engagement plenary session from the ICANN Contract Parties (registries and registrars) aims to improve broader community understanding of the key dynamics of the industry sector on which the finances of ICANN and the ICANN community are based. Generic top-level domain (TLD) registries and registrars occupy a unique position within the ICANN community in that they are directly contracted with ICANN. Outreach for Addressing Universal Acceptance | 10.30 – 12.00 UTC This is a working session to provide an overview of the outreach efforts addressing the Universal Acceptance (UA) of all domain names and email addresses, as well as the impact on these efforts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dear Ajay Thank you very much for the useful info. my comments 1- i believe that any effort UA does will be useful. However, in my opinion, Google will only respect market forces rather than what is right for the world. I could be wrong. Once the world uses IDN , Google will join in. Once google realises that they are losing market share due to the other search engines respecting IDN more than they do , they will join in. 2- another important thing that will help IDN : Appraisals. we need to establish an entity to do appraisals for IDN domain. I had a chinese domain and wanted to appraise it for a cient. Hello Wael,Universal Acceptance is the concept that all domain names should be treated equally. Domain names and e-mail addresses should be Accepted, Stored, Processed and Displayed in a consistent and effective manner. You may see www.uasg.tech for details. I was only referring to aproach of UA for having equal treatment to all domain names. Obviously, you will agree that no one would like to buy a domain name with limitations. Offcourse Google issue is to be deal seprately, first we should agree what we want from them. Thanks. The Asia-Pacific School on Internet Governance is a regional School of Internet Governance working towards raising awareness and capacity building within the Asia-Pacific region. It is an annual event to serve Internet Governance experts and leaders in Asia Pacific region on their professional upgrades. This provides collaboration with national SIGs and IGFs in Asia Pacific on their capacity development through general and advanced courses. Due to the global pandemic, the fifth edition of the event will be a Virtual Edition from 26-28, November,2020. The APSIG Organising Committee invites applications to register and apply for the fellowship to attend the event.
