Empowering Global Voices: ICANN's Internet Governance Initiative
by Fahd Batayneh Nov. 5, 2024

Nov. 5, 2024
https://www.icann.org/en/blogs/details/empowering-global-voices-icanns-inte… At ICANN, our mission is to ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. We are excited to help demonstrate our mission with the launch of our new Internet Governance Advocacy Project, a social media campaign that raises awareness, fosters inclusivity, and drives meaningful discussions about the future of the Internet. This initiative promotes the secure, global Internet ecosystem, and helps to ensure that multistakeholder governance remains central to Internet policymaking. Why This Project Matters Internet governance (IG) shapes how we communicate, access information, and conduct business, yet its complexity often leaves everyday users unaware of its relevance to daily life. Through this project, we want to help demystify IG, provide education on its importance and highlight the need for an inclusive, multistakeholder approach that represents the global community. Soon, we will share a series of video testimonials that showcase best practices and successful collaborations. These testimonials will highlight how governments, businesses, civil society, and technical communities work together to address key challenges in IG. We are grateful to our experts who contributed their global insights to this important video series, thereby encouraging viewers to connect with ICANN, to join the conversation, and to continue to raise awareness and inspire action toward a more balanced and inclusive approach. Engaging Our Global Community Beginning this month, we will launch a six-month campaign featuring 11 videos that explore topics ranging from the role of governments in IG to the importance of digital inclusivity. The videos are designed not only to educate, but also to encourage active engagement. By aligning our content with key global issues and ICANN's core focus areas, we encourage meaningful conversations with diverse global audiences, including policymakers, civil society, governments, the technical community, academia, and end users. Empowering Inclusive Internet Governance This advocacy project enhances accountability, improves security, and promotes a multistakeholder approach to IG. By educating stakeholders of the value of inclusive decision-making, we are working to strengthen the IG ecosystem and advocate for digital inclusivity. These efforts are essential to ensuring that the Internet remains a global resource that is accessible and beneficial to all. Through policies that emphasize transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration, we can help shape a future where the Internet continues to foster innovation and connect people around the world. Get Involved: Shaping the Future Together We invite you to be a part of this journey. Follow our video series, engage with our content, and share your thoughts on social media. Join the conversation that will shape the future of IG and help us work toward a more inclusive and digitally empowered world.
