The position summary states <https://icann-openhire.silkroad.com/epostings/index.cfm?fuseaction=app.jobIn...>: "Inform a variety of constituents regarding the role that ICANN plays in the Internet ecosystem. Facilitate solutions to challenging problems in a manner consistent with ICANN’s mission, remit and policies. Manage and participate in a number of cross-organizational projects relating to safeguards with the goal of addressing a variety of kinds of abuse and illegal activity, including spam/malware, intellectual property infringement, the unlawful sale and distribution of pharmaceuticals and controlled substances, and other illegal activities on the Internet, particularly where there is a focus on multi-stakeholder collaboration and a commitment to promote consumer trust in the domain name system. Work with ICANN’s leaders to set the consumer safeguards strategy and plans for ICANN." I like a consumer trust position. But this doesn't say anything about who the person reports to, and the openness of the positions activities. E.G., I'd hope we would be able to see if this is focused on assuaging the concerns of the pharmaceutical or film industries and not name sale abuses by registries or registrars. But I have a question about the origin of this position. Is this something ALS requested? Did this arise from a staff initiative that is thought to respond to needs expressed by the ALS? Or otherwise? Did the ALS have an opportunity to set the scope of this position? Best, Tom On 5/14/2016 8:27 AM, Glenn McKnight wrote:
