Dear All, As per decision at the NARALO call on August 9th 2010, we are now calling for nominations for the position of representative of unaffiliated NARALO Members. Please send your nominations for this position to the NA-Discuss list until Sunday August 22nd, 2010. You may also nominate yourself. Position Description The representative of the unaffiliated NARALO members will participate in the NARALO General Assemblies and other circumstances as required on behalf of the unaffiliated members. The term will run for a period from the close of the 2010 AGM until the close of the AGM 2011. Candidate Requirements The representative of the unaffiliated NARALO members must be a registered unaffiliated member. To register as an unaffiliated member, please send a short Statement of Interest (SOI) to staff@atlarge.icann.org by Sunday August 22nd, 2010. The SOI needs to state that you meet the requirements for unaffiliated members outlined below. Please also include your preferred email address, alternative email address and your phone number in the SOI for reference. Your contact information will not be made publicly available. Requirements for unaffiliated NARALO members: * be subscribed to the NA-Discuss list, * be a permanent resident of one of the countries/territories in the North American region as defined by ICANN, * not be a member of a certified ALS, * not be employed by or have direct financial interest in an ICANN contractual partner registry or registrar. Background Information: NARALO was the first RALO to formally recognize unaffiliated members. According to the NARALO Operating Principles, unaffiliated individuals can participate in NARALO votes and run for the NARALO positions in the ALAC. During the NARALO call on 9 August 2010, it was decided that the following rules shall apply with regards to unaffiliated member voting: * unaffiliated NARALO members need to register by submitting a Statement of Interest * unaffiliated NARALO members will elect a representative for a one year term to represent them during General Assemblies and other circumstances as required * voting weight of all unaffiliated NARALO members combined will be equal to that of one ALS representative * it shall be possible to adopt a voting process which automatically weights the combined votes of all unaffiliated individuals to be equal to that of one single ALS. * Unaffiliated Individuals will adopt a verifiable process to ensure that votes cast via their elected representative reflect the views held among unaffiliated individuals The NARALO Operating Principles will be modified accordingly.
