The OCDE's preliminary estimate is that the denial of service event (27 January - 2 February) has cost Egypt 90 million dollars (65 million euros). "The blocked services represented between 3% and 4% of the GNP, therefore a loss of 18 million dollars (13 million euros) per day." The OCDE's estimate of the lasting effect of the denial of service event negates a key element of the national economic development strategy, attracting foreign investment.
