hi, for what its worth, i consider it a good idea. since i am a member of an ALS i won't be joining, but had i not joined ISOC-NY i might have. I expect that if one day NARALO finds that this group gets big, people will reconsider the vote proportionality's and membership modalties. there are few enough places in ICANN that offer any membership for individuals. this seems a step in the right direction. a. Agreed. We acutally have less than 25 unaffiliated individuals: some are non-existant and some are not qualified to become an unaffiliated rep due to not being from the region or being affiliated with a registry/registrar. Some of our ALSs have members in the thousands if not millions.
Participate or not as is your choice.

ALS, which may have only a few members, is a sad mirror of the larger ICANN structure, which gives extraordinary weight to small constituency groups (e.g., to name only one, the ISP constituency) at the relative expense of interested unaffiliated ICANN participants. If I'm not mistaken, this is something that ALAC and NARALO specifically have had issues with. How curious then to see the NARALO rules perpetuate that same kind of inequality.
Right now there are fewer than 30 people eligible as unaffiliated members. That is far smaller than the membership of almost every ALS in this region.
You're perfectly welcome to choose those things in life that upset you, but IMO this is just petty.
