In our last conference call meeting we discussed the need for NARALO to appoint two people to the At-Large Board Selection Committee (ABSC)<https://st.icann.org/alac-docs/index.cgi?at_large_board_selection_committee>that will receive nominations from people interested in serving as the ICANN Director selected by the At-Large Community. This committee, comprised of two people from each region, will perform due diligence on the received nominations and deliver a slate of candidates from which the Community will elect one as Director.

As most of you know, NARALO has played a lead role in the development of the process to select this person, and creation and filling this committee is an important part of the process.
(While it is not in the rules governing the ABSC's composition, it is important to me personally that the committee *not* be comprised of ALAC members or RALO leadership, as they will also be participating in the final vote. At the last ALAC meeting<https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi?23_february_2010>, I objected to the fact that two regions had selected ALAC members to the ADSC; as a result those regions are reconsidering their selections; I expect that the committee will be 100% composed of people who are not already serving in elected/appointed At-Large positions.)
At the February teleconference <https://st.icann.org/naralo/index.cgi?08_february_2010>two people expressed interest in the positions, Joly McFly of ISOC NY and Myles Braithwaite of TLUG. Since then, Myles has confirmed his nomination but I have not yet heard from Joly despite requests from both myself and ICANN staff. In the meantime, Annalisa Roger from ISOC SFBay has stepped forward and strongly expressed an interest in participating.
As ALAC is under a tight time constraint to receive each region's selections, I propose that NARALO recommend Myles and Annalisa for the positions. Please let me (and the list) know *today* if you object to this.
