Hello everyone, It has been brought to my attention that the NARALO Rules of Procedure, as currently worded, do not allow Beau to run for an additional term as ALAC representative. The specific wording in our RoP says [about ALAC reps] that 10. These members will serve for terms of two (2) years at most and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. The phrase "at most" indicates fairly clearly that terms of less the two years count towards the consecutive-term limits, which would make Beau ineligible for re-election in 2010 despite his first term lasting only one year. So, after speaking with Beau and given my own desire to see him maintain a role in At-Large leadership: - Beau has withdrawn his nomination for the position of ALAC representative from NARALO - I nominate Beau as a candidate for the position of NARALO Chair - I nominate myself as a candidate for the position of ALAC representative from NARALO As well, I will add to the agenda of the next NARALO meeting an item regarding the wording of article 10, which I believe to be problematic going forward. This same wording, left unattended, will also affect Gareth next year and he served less than eight months for his first term (filling the vacancy left by a resignation). Going forward, the wording as-is may serve as a deterrent to finding volunteers should the region need to fill vacancies in the future. My intention is to recommend that Alan and/or Darlene lead a small work team to examine this issue and possibly recommend new wording long before *next* year's election. I apologize for any confusion and for having overlooked this before. - Evan
