Cybersecurity lacking in Africa, beware!
All, It seems that many of us were correct in recognizing that the approval of some African ccTLD's, by the ICANN Bod was likely, if not certainly, premature, if not a departure in good judgment. Too late however, the damage is now done. Next thing to do is to determine how ICANN, the responsible party largely, can facilitate providing for African countries so that users around the globe are not unwittingly damaged unnecessarily. Such work would go a long way in reducing Phishing scams, and other security related miscreant behaviors, which seem to be ever increasing out of Africa. See: http://www.networkworld.com/news/2008/082508-cybersecurity-lacking-in-africa... Africa will not realize the benefits of IT without improvements in cybersecurity, the secretary general of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) said today.
