Hi everyone. Catching up on NPOC work. Let me address each question/doubt in one reply: @Johan Helsingius <julf@julf.com> I am the current Comms Chair for NPOC (interesting no one has mentioned this in this long thread) and have been taking care of Comms since Hanburg. @Caleb Olumuyiwa Ogundele <muyiwacaleb@gmail.com> will indeed replace me in the role as Comms and Membership Chairs are to be merged under the new Charter. *- Should NPOC have an profile on X?* NPOC should have one, definitely. For as long as the constituency's Charter does not say otherwise (and I would always advocate against this), there are no political/ideological filiations to be ascribed to. The raison-d'etre for SocMed presence should be "there were our audience may/will be" with a consideration on how much admin cost this implies for all of us (after all volunteers). *- Does it make sense to have a social media team on the NPOC level, or* *would it be better to have one centralized team on the NCSG level?* It very much depends. From a Charter standpoint, NPOC is mandated to have its own Outreach people/team. On the other hand, while I do see the value of synchronizing campaigns across NCSG, if NPOC and NCUC are distinct constituencies with their own objectives then it's not advisable to merge their outreach as it may cause confusion across members. Should this being considered, why stop at SocMed? Merging websites would be the next logical step. Also, the tools NCSG, NPOC and NCUC use are likely to be different. Licensing/learning curve and handover across cycles is to be taken into consideration. *- Content* Content before I tool over the Chair yes was mostly stuck in 2021 (with few posts in 2023) yet since July 2024 there is a steady stream of automated posts. Extensive work has been done in creating templates to minimize workload for future Outreach Chairs (Canva, automation & analytics platform, templates for body copy, etc.). While it's not the most sexy thing, it does the job and it's a decent foundation to improve in the coming months. *- Who has the password?* Me. As part of the overall work to reassess and improve NPOC's IT infrastructure, the credentials management issue has been addressed. We currently have a running Vaultwarden instance that stores all credentials and allows for a very smooth handover across next EC cycles. We could consider a similar approach for NCSG & NCUC should the ECs be interested. @Levy Syanseke @Omowunmi Thanks for the offer, much appreciated. Let me know if I left anything unanswered. Hi Julf,
I'm the incoming Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for NPOC. I'd be happy happy to have you levy and anyone who wants to participate in the NPOC's team.
@Johan Helsingius <julf.helsingius@gmail.com> is it possible the NCSG EC get or retrieve the social media accounts.
I'm sure we can get many volunteers from NCSG to support the EC.
@Levy or anyone interested, kindly send me a private email and we can schedule an engagement strategy session we can work with.

Dear Johan,
Good day, NPOC has been on Twitter now X since 2012 when I was on the EC and NCSG Exco, our Handle is NPOC_ICANN and the account is still being managed, NPOC Comms will know well on this .
Just wanted to state this just like NCSG_ICANN has been on Twitter now X since 2013. I hope this helps.
Have a lovely week ahead.

I just wanted to hear how people feel about NPOC having a presence on X. I know a lot of people have issues with X after the takeover by Elon Musk, and his rather interesting understanding of freedom of speech. Many civil society organisations are withdrawing their presence on and support for X.
I don't have a strong position on this, but I am curious to hear what members think. I also don't want to get into the loaded discussion about possible disinformation, as the mere definition of that word is likely to lead to a heated discussion.
