RDAP update and moving forward with T/T
Hello T/T IRT members, As you know, the T/T implementation has been on hold pending a determination of the status of RDAP. In light of consultations with our internal and external project teams involved in the ³Thick WHOIS: Consistent Labelling and Display² implementation, the provision to mandate an RDAP service on the part of all gTLD registries has been removed from their draft policy document that is expected to go for public comment within the next few days. Instead, our plan for RDAP is to have the service implemented on a contractual basis (which encompasses all but 7 legacy gTLDs), with an announcement planned for February 2017 and an effective date of 1 August 2017. Please note this plan is yet to be confirmed, and therefore tentative. Bottom line: RDAP is not ³dead², as some in the community had feared, andassuming the above plan moves forwardthe implementation will be carried out next year. Given these developments, I think it¹s safe to resuscitate our T/T work. You may recall there was debate within our group on whether the T/T recommendations could/should be implemented along with the roll-out of RDAP or would be better suited for RDDS work in other areas (e.g. the Next Gen RDS PDP). We¹ll review this discussion in our next call, as well as discuss a plan for our F2F meeting in Hyderabad, which is currently scheduled for Tuesday, 8 November from 15:15 16:15. I¹ll send around a doodle poll invite shortly for the week of October 24. Thanks everyone. Please let me know of any questions. Otherwise, I¹ll look forward to speaking with all of you soon. Brian, You say below that the effective date for deploying RDAP will be 1 August 2017. Is this documented anywhere, even in a pre-announcement? I haven’t seen any references to this yet. Thanks, Jim On 12 Oct 2016, at 20:41, Brian Aitchison wrote:

Hi Jim, all: Just to emphasize: the overall plans and timeline for RDAP have not been confirmed, and are therefore tentative. I wanted to give a rough idea of the timeline for T/T given their inter-relationship. Apologies for the confusion. I¹ll be sure to provide confirmed dates once they're available.
