IGF 2020 Universal Acceptance:Illustrations from Around the World
Good morning/afternoon/evening I have a question. I have in my calendar an entry for an UA session (title in the subject line) scheduled for today, Thursday 5 November, at 18:50 UTC. However, now that I wanted to get the Zoom link I do not see the session in the main schedule anymore. Can somebody tell me whether the session is cancelled, it is a mistake from my part, or is the entry missing from today’s calendar? Thanks, Roberto
Hi, according to my agenda it is now scheduled on 16 November: https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/igf-2020-ws-267-universal-a... Thanks Lars. I had that as well down in my schedule, I thought both sessions were going to take place - they have a different title, for instance. So, I can safely assume that it was some mistake from my part. See you all (virtually) on Monday 16. Incidentally, in the session https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/igf-2020-ws-271-multilingua... Tuesday 17 @13:50 UTC we will also be speaking about UA, although in the larger framework of multilingualism. Hi Roberto, There must have been a change. I added the same session for today to my personal schedule and downloaded the calendar invite. But when I follow the link provided in the calendar invite for today it now refers to the session on Monday 16 November. <http://larry.masinter.net> I wonder if anyone has noticed the lack of UA attention to use of non-ASCII characters in URLs.
Dear Larry, Are you talking about URL path name? Is there any issue with non-ASCII chars in URL path names? Thanks, Dusan From: UA-discuss [mailto:ua-discuss-bounces@icann.org] On Behalf Of Larry Masinter Sent: 5. новембар 2020. 20:30 To: Universal Acceptance <UA-discuss@icann.org> Subject: Re: [UA-discuss] IGF 2020 Universal Acceptance:Illustrations from Around the World I wonder if anyone has noticed the lack of UA attention to use of non-ASCII characters in URLs. -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
The URL issues are similar to the EAI issues but different and perhaps greater. There are many many systems and data structures and formats that accept URLs and transport and carry them. Which ones accept what kind of (non-ascii) URLs without mangling?
Dear Larry, Most of our work, as UASG, is about URL. Many of documents are touching that issues and many measurement work is about that. We contacted many times developers about those issues. I can only agree that there is many issues regarding URLs and that we are trying to solve them.
