Hi to all Attached is the latest draft of the GDC, dated Sept 6. My understanding is that the co-facilitators have officially passed this on to the President of the General Assembly and their work is completed as they are urging all governments to join consensus and adopt. It seems the co-facilitators are now leaving it up the President of the General Assembly as everyone heads into the Summit of the Future. Recall the GDC is an attachment to that Summit's declaration. Perhaps others, in particular those in government, might have more information, including on timing, my assumption is that this is the text that will be adopted barring some strenuous government objections. To me, it seems largely unchanged from the last draft. Fiona
Hi all Thanks Fiona for sharing this - I've seen a comparison doc that indicates the main changes are only two: * A weakening of the language about Internet shutdowns in 29d * A change in terminology in 31 f (one word substituted - "exploitation" used instead of "abuse" Cheers Jordan From: Fiona Alexander via wsis20 <wsis20@icann.org> Sent: Wednesday, 11 September 2024 9:10 AM To: wsis20@ICANN.org Subject: [EXTERNAL] - [wsis20] Latest on GDC Hi to all Attached is the latest draft of the GDC, dated Sept 6. Hi all, Yes, I think this captures the current state of play. Only two paragraphs from Rev4 were changed by the co-facilitators in the version sent to the PGA. The GDC is now in the hands of the new PGA, who just started. I think the conversation in New York is almost entirely focused on the text of the Pact for the Future at this point, not the GDC. Most delegations do not support opening the GDC draft, and instead, are trying to work out differences within the Pact negotiations. That said, we'll need to remain diligent over the next week and a half. Dear all, For whoever it may be of interest, here goes a "raw" comparative table of the GDC's past 6 versions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PEC6wznT8n193thVOiS_zt4GnnB0tHNjHIdE... In the run up for the SoF, hopefully it can be useful during negotiations to identify stable text and the moving pieces. All the best, Raquel

Hi all, I wanted to share a brief blog article I wrote for the DNS Research Federation on revision 4: https://dnsrf.org/blog/global-digital-compact-bartering-for-the-internet-fut.... It is based on the August 27 version, but still relevant given the minor changes seen in the Sept 6 version. Hope this is of help to those of you analysing the text, I welcome comments/reactions. Many thanks, Carolina On Mon, 16 Sept 2024 at 03:45, Jordan Carter via wsis20 <wsis20@icann.org> wrote:
