Dear All, Access to affordable Internet is one of the major stumbling block, that is affecting the growth of Internet uptake and human development in the continent, hence "theme 3" is also very crucial that we engage on it. But for the purpose of the Singapore meeting, i agree that we consolidate theme 1 and theme 4, into one theme. I think 1 and 4 was proposed to serve the same cause. So will suggest we go for 1 and 5 with modification on 1 thus:
IANA transition from African perspective - the way forward
And if we must discuss ICANN accountability at Singapore it should be distinct because it has been an issue ever before IANA transition came on stream. Hence the suggestion on 5 below "Understanding Accountability in ICANN process"
However I suggest strongly we begin to look into internet access on the continent with modification of no. 3 thus "improving internet access across Africa"

The following ideas were proposed as Themes for the AFRALO-AFRICANN meeting in Singapore.
1. " IANA transition and ICANN accountability seen by the African community'
2. "ICANN Accountability"
3. "Issues around access in Africa, as Internet access is a problem"
4. "ICANN accountability post transition implication - Africa perspective"
5. "Understanding Accountability in ICANN process"
In addition, the following members offered to be part of the drafting team:
1) Seun Ojedeji 2) Janvier Ngnoulaye 3) Beran Gillen 4) Remmy Nweke
We welcome more members to join the team.
We welcome suggestions on the most suitable theme , this should happen before Wednesday 14 January 2014 after which it will be handed over to the drafting team to come up with a statement that will be presented at the Singapore meeting once it has been ratified by the members.
