Formation of CIP Community Coordination Group
Dear All, ICANN organisation Review Support and Accountability team, reached out to leadership of the ICANN Supporting Organisations (SOs) and Advisory Committees (ACs) to plan for implementation of the Third Accountability and Transparency Review (ATRT3) Recommendation 3.6, to evolve Organisational Reviews into a Continuous Improvement Program (CIP). I am reaching out to you today to inform you of the attached proposed Terms of Reference for a CIP Community Coordination Group and a full letter from ICANN Review Support and Accountability team. ICANN org proposes the formation of a CIP-CCG to convene in December 2023, with the goal of developing a framework for implementation of ATRT3 Recommendation 3.6. We are looking for one representative from AFRALO with familiarity with Organisational Reviews, but also representatives with knowledge of continuous improvement work outside of ICANN. Those that can contribute new and innovative ideas for improving the effectiveness and the accountability of the different ICANN structures. There is the importance of striking a balance between representatives with deep ICANN experience, and those that bring new perspectives. Bram has expressed interest in the position and I believe he has the skills required for the position. Please let me know if this works for all of you. Thank you Hadia ElminiawiAFRALO Chair

Dear Hadia I hope my email finds you well. Formally, let me congratulate you on your assumption into office as AFRALO Chairperson. During last week's Conference call, I did offer one belatedly. Nonetheless, even though I did not support your candidature for the office, I was one of those who supported your novel initiative of bringing together past Alumni of the ICANN Fellowship program as a Think Tank at the last meeting. I did believe that you have a visionary plan for AFRALO and as a team player, I put my interest second to the organization's interest. Reading this information from you on the request for the CIP nomination and your last statement in your letter makes me sick! Bram has expressed interest in the position and I believe he has the skills required for the position. Please let me know if this works for all of you. Is this how you are going to lead us? How can you for the first time inform the house about the nomination for a committee and end up by saying someone has indicated interest and you are asking for your approval in whatever clandestine arrangement you had with Bram? I see this as insulting our sensibilities. When and where did Bram indicate his interest? Before you made it public to everyone? Or after? Was that the process adopted by your predecessors? I will advise you to find out how to lead an organization as AFRALO in a democracy. This is not an autocracy and would advise you to retract your statement in reference. For this singular action, Bram should be prevented from taking part in the process of choosing our representative. Your action has exposed your integrity and compromise as a leader for all. I have made my point and my conscience remains clear. Dear Hadia, AFRALO Member Representatives, Your email is well noted. I support the appointment of Bram to this representative position in the CIP - CCG and do believe he would be an appropriate candidate for this position. In future I would like to find out where do the community find out about and take part in establishment or endorement for intitiatives like this one? I would also like to take the opportunity to promote a nomination process for the above for all candidates and members of AFRALO to feel comfortable to show up in either self nomination or in nomination of their favoured candidate or to endorse for the nominated candidate as I have above. I believe this is an important position and we do want the best representative but that being said this is also an inclusive community and we should show up in the spirit of continuous improvement by allowing for our processes to be open, transparent and fair for all which means being transparent in the way programs are announced and how community members are nominated to these. We want to steer clear of appearing to be an "inner club" as far as is possible, we want all members to feel a part of the community while also promoting the best representation for our region. I am in no way going to be hard on you. You can only listen to yourself and see your approach to the issue at stake. It is such a shame that at this age and level of our exposure, once an African tastes power, we become intoxicated by it. I do not have any apology to Hadia or anyone who may want to support her very inglorious position so early in her reign. You are excusing a blatant abuse of privilege and position with a lame defense that she has not yet endorsed if not she would not be asking us. Was that the way YOU WERE HAND-PICKED to represent us in ALAC? I am too blunt. If I have to accept all this "diplomatic finesse" language as being portrayed so far, then I owe Seun an apology! I had expected much more than this from Hadia. She needs to come out clean and tell us WHERE AND WHEN she had the discussion with Bram to represent us. It is insulting for her to come to us with that request: IF WE ARE OKAY BY IT.
As usual, I won't be surprised at the chorusing of some of us looking for favours as usual in the face of abuse of office and position.

Dear Hadia,I think I have to support Pastors on this issue. It is wrong, very wrong, what you've done. You are the one introducing an issue to the house. You are the one making suggestions. You are the one nominating Bram. Your entire attitude stinks to high heavens. It is undemocratic. You give the impression that we are all morons. When did Bram indicate his interest? Was it before the general house? Was it during a secret conversation between two of you on an issue that concerns over 70 groups in Africa? Was it when ICANN intimated the issue to Bram? It stinks, your entire manner. I hope you make adjustments in your manner going forwards. Good day Hadia Hope this meets you well. On the subject matter, the process is flawed and I hope we learn from this error and move on by being more dynamic in future engagement, taking into consideration these constructive criticisms so far. No hasty decisions please but ensure wide consultation. There are better ways of going about this. However, we must learn fast and accommodate constructive criticism. Now that we have Bram and Chokri on the slate, can we probably adopt the two to make progress by close of work today like in other supporting groups, while encouraging more observers to learn on the sideline.
Thank you

Dear Ernest. Thank you for your email. The Black Mans problem is our playing to the gallery in the name of being in the good book of our so called leaders. Any leader who wants my support must be seen to be above board, even if not perfect, must be seen to be working towards it. You are speaking about my tone and yet failed to recognise her abuse and insults to our collective intelligence. Next time you want to play the role of a mediator, be balanced. She made a blunder which was drawn to her attention and came back to insult us more with ICANN X handle information and now enlarged the number of candidates interested. Has she put a call out for those interested to inficate interest or nominate people. She is not only inexperienced, but has a tendency for autocracy! And arrogant. She can be your respected leader not to me UNTIL she learn to appreciate what democracy and collective responsibility is! Then she inspire followership Next time be onjective. Madam Chairman. You re not listening. Why would you give a 24 hour notice? For members to vote? Are you just new the community? You think members stay glued to their social media 24/7 Voting should not be less than 3 days minimum. Besides, whom are you consulting with by the way. Did you consult with your leadership team? Or even leaders of the very ALS. YOU ARE MAKING PRONOUNCEMENTS LIKE YOU ARE HANDLING YOUR PRIVATE ENTERPRISE.
Pastor Peters, please the Chair has listened to the concerns of the community to allow others to also express interest to volunteer for this exercise. Thank you for your unsolicited nomination. I am not interested. Making reference to any existing problem is just your imagination. Did I have any previous issues with the immediate past chair whenever I challenged him? I have told you to stop playing to the gallery. Since you are one of those she listens to, why dont you act as a good adviser to her instead of coming out here to cry more than the bereaved. AFRALO is a collection of Leaders of more than 70 ALS. We are not pupils under the Chairman. She should weigh what she sends out to us. She is dishing out orders without recourse to due process. No consultation. She should be told in clear terms to step back a little. This is her first role as chairman and already messing it up. The Ghana that I know are not made up of praise singers. It was built by those who opposed authoritarianism. Go do your history. Nkrumah will be crying in his grave today with the kind of desperate leaders that are supposed to be tomorrow leaders ready to sell their Conscience for a pot of porridge. I expected you as one of our LEADERS in AFRALO to guide your chairman on the importance of consultation and collectivity. But you want pretend she is doing well so as to be handpicked tomorrow for another role in ICANN Good day Raymond! On Sun, 26 Nov 2023, 11:47 Raymond Mamattah, <mamattah.raymond@gmail.com> wrote:
