And as I went along and reflected I became increasingly uneasy as it became achingly clear that our standing as surrogate was increasingly weak since the definition of "community" that I was relying on was demonstrably uncertain subjected as it were to variations, patently irregular and, even cockeyed. The process might have been formulated but clearly a low hurdle to abuse existed. And, more than anything else, equity could not be guaranteed. What you say? Yes, there is the law. But equity is the value to uphold in these matters.
