I also thought that CROP was *not* to be used for ICANN meetings. On Mon, Nov 20, 2017 at 6:16 AM, Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond <ocl@gih.com> wrote:
Thanks Dev.
My personal feeling is I cringe when seeing CROP, by its very definition being for "Outreach", being used to travel to an ICANN meeting, which really is inside the ivory tower, thus engagement rather than outreach. But RALOs are of course free to do as they wish. Kindest regards,
Olivier

Thanks Olivier and Beran for this.
A reminder that CROP could be used by the RALO in the region where ICANN F2F meeting takes place.
So NARALO could use CROP to send a mentee to ICANN Puerto Rico and LACRALO could use CROP to send a mentee to Panama. That would therefore allow for a 2nd mentee to come from COP funding to Puerto Rico and Panama.
Some thoughts on conditions
- mentors and mentees need to have conference calls before the ICANN F2F meetings to explain what is At-Large using the At-Large community onboarding documentation and also be able to present on the policy work happening in ALAC and ICANN. Since the calls would be public, it would also offer opportunities for new fellows and nextgen persons to also attend. - commit to edit and update the community onboarding materials. - mentor and mentees be part of the O&E and continue after the travel to refine the onboarding approach for future mentors/mentees

(added Outreach & Engagement WG & RALO Secretariats)
Thanks Beran.
So that's going to be two people being selected for the Onboarding Program thus 1 mentor & 1 mentee. I am copying the RALO Secretariats & the Outreach & Engagement working group as we need to discuss what our selection process is going to be for this. Of course, 1 or 2 mentors and 5 mentees, one for region, would be a lot better for us; however budgets are not high enough to sustain this. Kindest regards,
Olivier
