And I suspect it was related to someone who had been chosen as a coach, and was given a Fellowship slot, just as they aim to do for the new mentors who are appointed. On Thu, Sep 13, 2018 at 5:45 AM, Alan Greenberg <alan.greenberg@mcgill.ca> wrote:
What was done under the previous Fellowship program under their guidelines and with the previous selectors should have been a consideration for our recommendations going forward. And hopefully it was.

Thank you Maureen,
In one of the latest fellowship rounds, a former GAC Vice Chair got funded as a fellow….. I hope you understand my point that this fellowship slot would be much more useful if it was given to a new comer……

But as you know, Tijani, the Fellowship offers a fast-track view of ICANN that you dont normally get when you just come in "off the street" so to speak.
The Fellowship will aso enable them to assess which area of ICANN is relevant to their backgrounds and skills, and they can then see the point in their involvement..
Those who don't, and we never see them again, probably aren't suited anyway.

Again if a candidate has the skill of Policy Development including understanding of ICANN policy issues, Knowledge and some technical experience of and within the internet ecosystem as well as legal skills, Drafting skills, ability to analyze data from an Internet end user perspective, etc. I don’t think that he/she needs to be funded as fellow.
But I understand that at this very late stage, there is no room for modification….
