Fwd: Response to Willett letter re: Policy Advisory Board model - Public Consultation
Dear colleagues, please be so kind to find the response which the co-signatories have agreed to, re-emphasizing the points they have made. I believe it has taken into account much of the dismay and remarks conveyed on this mailing list regarding the original response received. Thank you for posting this, Olivier. At the ALAC new-gTLD Working Group, since I raised this issue for discussion there has been no dissent and only comment in favour. I would like to propose that we open the concept of the Policy Advisory Board model -- as a supplement and possible replacement for certain TLD strings -- for a formal Public Comment. If possible I would like to start this PCP as soon as possible so we have some valuable input in time for Singapore. Is this doable? If so, what is the process to create an formal ALAC-initiated Public Comment Process? Does it require an ALAC vote? Whatever the process, I would like to do what I can do to make this happen ASAP if it has broader At-Large support. - Evan On 14 February 2014 17:31, Olivier MJ Crepin-Leblond <ocl@gih.com> wrote:

Dear Evan, thank you for your kind message. I note that there has indeed been discussion in the ALAC new gTLD Working Group. I would suggest the following: - create a document which the public comment should be commenting on. This could be a version of the proposal of the Policy Advisory Board (PAB) model. - make sure you know what you are asking for in the public comment process. ie. will you be asking specific questions? Are there are specifics of the PAB which you are looking to have people comment on? How will the PC advance the ALAC's process? - in order for this to go to public comment, I'd like to make sure there is consensus on the ALAC so I would be more comfortable with an ALAC vote. * time for ALAC members to discuss the PAB with the wider At-Large: 1 week * ALAC vote: 5 working days In the meantime, and assuming the ALAC decides to proceed forward with a requesting an ICANN-wide public comment, could At-Large Staff please forecast it on our calendar? Many thanks, Olivier On 14/02/2014 22:55, Evan Leibovitch wrote:
