ARISPA is an association of regional ISPs. They were advised that as they were an industry trade association, it would be better to apply to the ISP or BC constituency in the GNSO. A discussion between them and Baher Esmat did verify that they were a trade association. We are waiting for a formal notification from them that their application is withdrawn. Sorry, NIck and all, YES, I found that conclusion at the very end of the Google Doc, which I had missed earlier. And I have no problem with that. Thanks, izumi 2008/10/14 Nick Ashton-Hart <Nick.Ashton-Hart@icann.org>

Hello Nick Ashton Hart, This is a wise decision to direct the ISP Association to apply to the ISP or BC constituency. We have had a similar situation in India but the issue is beyond the purview of at-Large. An industry association's views are certainly to be respected in any stakeholder situation, but the views needs to be presented as Industry views and not wrapped up as Civil Society views. Same is true of any organ of Government or any one from Government seeking to be a part of Civil Society or Industry Association. Government position needs to be presented as Government position, Civil Society's as CS postion, and Industry's position as Industry's position. This is the essential level of transparency that would keep the stakeholder representations true and fair. It is good to know that this application is about to be withdrawn Sivasubramanian Muthusamy http://isocmadras.blogspot.com On Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 8:22 PM, Nick Ashton-Hart < Nick.Ashton-Hart@icann.org> wrote:
