Dear Roberto, As you know your suggestion is my position from the very begining. Unfortunately ICANN made everything for ALAC to be self centered and inneficient instead of being interested in lead users, and potentially in end users, and in builing a citizenstructure that could help stabilizing the network through its governance. At this time, I am afraid this is too late for the ALAC/ICANN to reform and ICANN to keep the real leadership. But a reforming ALAC under a new ICANN management might help everyone. IMHO much is going to depend on the NTIA wording, on the IANA short term strategy, and on the IDNA IETF/LC. The real incertitude I have - if you have read Rod Beckstrom's book - is to know if he want to support or kill the @large spirit and architectural necessity that ALAC has already deeply hurt. Anyway, at this stage, ALAC is not credible to oppose, on a citizen basis and least on a technical bases, an overpressure by Govs. In any case, ICANN belongs to an Internet conception which is quickly obsoleting (and not yet replaced). jfc At 11:19 30/09/2009, Roberto Gaetano wrote:
