I would be interested to hear what others think, especially those outside the U.S. who have an understandable desire to see ICANN out from under U.S. Gov't oversight.
Honestly, anyone who's the least bit surprised by this outcome hasn't been paying attention. ICANN still has a vast distance to travel before it would be reasonable to consider cutting it loose as a free floating NGO. And for a variety of reasons, even if it were reasonable to consider, it probably won't ever happen. I get the impression that despite the formal protests, a lot of people are relieved that ICANN will continue to have soem adult supervision. R's, John
