As many of us have heard, one issue about Zoom has been raised today at ICANN 67. I was not aware of the limitations - see below: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203806119-Will-Zoom-work-internati... In view of more online meetings, is there anything that we should/could do to mitigate the problem? Do we have folks - or ALS - in those countries? Siavash comes to my mind - but I understand he is no longer with At-Large. Cheers, Roberto
Dear Roberto, this is an ongoing issue due to OFAC restrictions in the US. Short of using a product from a non-US provider, there is no cure... apart from the fact that most of the people in the affected countries have mastered the use of VPN, for the simple reason that in many of these countries, some services are blocked locally and others services are also blocked due to OFAC. So I don't know it is a real issue. BTW the situation in UAE is patchy. I have managed to use ZOOM in many parts of the country without VPN. When blocked, I just used VPN & problem solved. Kindest regards, Olivier On 12/03/2020 22:37, Roberto Gaetano wrote:

I agree Olivier!!! At the end VPN is a convenient solution. Regards Enviado desde mi iPhone

I don't know why we are not documenting these ideas in a google doc. Exactly. Note that not all OFAC country sanctions would prohibit Zoom use. Eg, Lebanon. So this may be over-caution. Meanwhile, other countries not on the list block Zoom and other chat apps regularly and arbitrarily, including India, Egypt and of course China <https://technode.com/2019/09/09/china-blocks-us-video-conferencing-tool-zoom...>. This is beyond the control of Zoom. - Evan
