Presentation for Capacity Building Session on Communcations for April 17 2014
Dear All, Please find attached the presentation done by me and Nathalie Peregrine for the Capacity building Session on Communications for April 17 2014. Any last minute corrections before the call are welcomed :-) Kind Regards, Dev Anand Teelucksingh
Thanks for this, Dev. Please be so kind to find my suggestions as follows: Slide 7: Tijani's country is Tunisia, not Tunisa (I know you've taken this from the ALAC page which contains this typo and has been so for a while despite my comments) On that same page, what order are the ALAC names using? By alphabetical order of First name? Last Name? Why are conference calls split between P. 10, 11, 12 and P. 25 & 26? Also why is the Adigo call page also separate on P. 33 and where are "dial-outs" explained? Kind regards, Olivier On 17/04/2014 04:34, Dev Anand Teelucksingh wrote:

Dear Olivier, Thank you so much for your email. Im taking the liberty of replying as I am pretty sure Dev will not be up by now J I have the corrected the typo to Tunisia, thanks for pointing that out. Slides 10 and 11 concern the AC room, and not a conference call so to speak. It is a hands on practice period with participants who will fiddle around with hands raised, agree/ disagree etc, so that they are comfortable with these features throughout the presentation. The actual joining of conference calls comes after mailing lists, Skype and the wiki, as conference calls are punctual moments, whereas the use of mailing lists, Skype chat, and the wiki are part of members daily tools. The Adigo code slide comes at the end of the conference call section, as we followed the chronology of a member looking up a meeting, from the At-Large calendar, to sending an apology, requesting a dial out (here is the dial out explanation), and finally dialling into the call. I hope this helps. We were reluctant to put in too much text, as these are going to be interpreted. Hence why without the verbal linking from slide to slide, it can appear to be screenshot after screenshot. We needed the slides to be illustrative more than textual. Please let me know if this is still unclear. Thank you for your input! Dear Olivier. Thanks for catching the typo about Tunisia, indeed I was copying the page at http://archive.icann.org/en/committees/alac/ I'm looking at the page ( http://archive.icann.org/en/committees/alac/) and I'm don't think there is any order. I suspect what was done was that a name was removed and the new person added in exactly the same slot so as to not reorder the members. I'll update our slide to order the members by surname. However, we should have the ALAC members on our wiki and more important, links to previous ALAC members for each 1 year term as they are always changes after each AGM. There is no real history of the ALAC on the wiki. So the structure will look like this: - ALAC members - list members for 2013 to 2014 - ALAC members from 2012-2013 - ALAC members from 2011-2012 - ALAC members from 2010-2011 - etc, etc Just to add to Nathalie's explaination, the conference tool Adobe Connect was introduced first because everyone in the call will be using it already and for persons to use this effectively for the rest of the seminar (and hopefully beyond!). And to complete the last sentence *before* sending ;-) Just to add to Nathalie's explanation, Adobe Connect was introduced first because everyone in the call are using it already and for persons to use this effectively for the rest of the seminar (and hopefully beyond!), we thought it best to start with that.
