Good morning, Kristina and Councilors: I use Adobe Connect for ALAC calls and other working groups. I find the Adobe features valuable for the following reasons: 1) The chat feature enables conversations between individual participants (private) or any individual and everyone (sharing an on-topic opinion or experience), without using mic time or slowing the verbal dialog. 2) There is a clear indication of all meeting participants and the useful ability to "raise a virtual hand" enabling the Chair to more easily manage the meeting without intrusive verbal requests for attention. 3) The ability to display documents under discussion in real time, along with the ability to use graphics and PowerPoint presentations is extremely valuable. 4) Separate panels are used to display an agenda and/or running transcript or meeting notes, as well as translation transcripts. It is also possible to post real-time links to any URL. 5) The visual voting (or agree, disagree) features have proven valuable in certain circumstances. 6) The system can be used with a telephone connection (where preferable), but also with two way audio without the use of a telephone connection. I have no experience using Adobe Connect in a mobile situation. Best regards, Ron Sherwood On Thu, Apr 26, 2012 at 3:35 AM, Kristina Nordstrom < kristina.nordstrom@icann.org> wrote:
Dear Councillors,
As you may know several of the ccNSO working groups are now using the virtual meeting tool *Adobe Connect* as an additional communication tool for their conference calls and I would like to note that this is an option for the Council as well.
Adobe Connect is good for several reasons:
- Communicating through the chat
- Displaying documents
- Connecting to the call using only the computer
- Voting on simple issues/documents
The most important thing is that nobody should feel excluded and we are aware that many of you on occasions need to take the Council calls on the road with no internet access.
It would be of much help o us if you could all indicate whether or not you think Adobe Connect would be a good tool for the Council calls, either on the list or directly to me.
Based on how people respond we will decide on whether or not it is worth a try.
