Dear Katrina, I agree with Nigel’s suggested approach. We need to respond because this kind of trend is dangerous. Though our format of response need to be well thought out. Thank you Kind regards, Abdalla Omari. Chief Executive Officer

1. Yes. The Council should consider this carefully.
2. It's both a threat and an opportunity.
3. Irrespective of the fact that .CR have not complained to us, this raises possible questions that affect all ccTLDs - thus a considered public statement will not only be appropriate, but (in my view) necessary.
4. Given the sensititivies which date back to 1999 at least, we must be deliberate and not hasty,
Here's my suggestion . .
We have a short opportunity in the members meeting for any ccTLD person to make a comment.
We discuss this, briefly, as Council on the Council agenda.
Following the Council meeting we have a small team prepare a statement, based on the input received as well as Councillors own views.
This /careful/ statement, when approved on the email list should be issued, probably the following day to the Council meeting.
I would just re-iterate. Let's not be hasty, but we must not miss the bus.
Nigel
PS: I think that informal discussion with the GAC would be helpful. Possibly even at the GAC-Council meeting??

Dear Councillors,
With respect to the case described below please consider the following questions:
1) Do you think the ccNSO and the ccNSO Council in particular should react to the letter (which technically is addressed to GAC and does not call for any action)?
2) If yes, how we should react – the form (e.g., a ccNSO Council statement) and the content?
While you think about the questions, I reached out to .cr to ask if they expect any reaction from us. Will let you know as soon as I receive a reply from us. As they haven’t reached out to us, it is quite possible that they do not expect us to do anything.
Kind regards, 1.
