ccNSO information for NomCom - draft letter to review
Hi all This is a note and a short letter to read for discussion at Thursday’s council meeting. Coming up to this icann meeting, the NomCom asked Alejandra, Biyi and I to meet with them to talk about the role description for the appointees they select as Council members. The idea is to answer any queries NomCom may have, and help them understand a bit about how the role works in practice. We joined NomCom on Saturday for a half hour. The conversation identified some areas that they asked us to communicate to them in writing. Here’s the draft, please feel welcome to add any comments or questions or discuss it by email. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10T-sfeZUqqhbPO8D8mWsclZMCt3TlobqVt4b2n9c... thanks for communicating with the NomCom. It is important that the members learn about the ccNSO and its requirements.

I have added a number of comments to the text, my main points: o clarify whether this letter amends or supersedes previous communication o suggest to add a list of requirements rather than generic 'diversity' clauses o clarify the ineligibility criteria based on precedent Best Peter

after our discussion in Seattle, I do think the now revised text avoids the ambiguities raised. Apologies for having missed the discussion in an earlier council meeting. Thanks a lot Peter
Hi all, Here are a few small suggestions for your consideration: 1. In Paragraph 2: I think ‘outlines several key considerations’ is more concise and clearer than ‘sets out some matters.’ 2. In Paragraph 2 (cont.): Also, in my opinion, ‘this document reflects discussions held by the ccNSO Council at its meeting on [XX March 2025]’ matches the formal tone of the letter better.” 3. In Paragraph 4: 'The only firm constraint is the rule that staff of ccTLD managers, who make up the ccNSO’s membership, and staff of ccTLD Regional Organizations, are ineligible for appointment.'
