What icann and Verisign allow themselves to increase the fees for .com domains sounds like covert donations for Icann. 20 million US $ without purpose, who does not think of the mafia or enrichment is out of this world. Dear Sir or Madam ICANN and Verisign contract amendments I write to convey my utter dismay on your decision to amend ICANN's contract with Verisign without public consultation. The Internet, as we have all witnessed, has, on one hand, brought freedom of expression in a manner and at a scale that is unprecedented in human history. On the other hand, It has made possible an equally astounding feat: an open and truly globalised market. Yet, your actions now put the very foundation of the Internet in jeopardy. Your deal with Verisign has potential not only to drive the domain registration fees higher, thus putting it out of reach for people like me, but, to add insult to the injury, will also make the Internet a less democratic and competitive place. Are we to witness yet again the interest of the multitude to be sacrificed to benefit the few? I wish it were not so. I wish for a friendlier and more open world for our youth. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. These price increases are unfair and were done in secret. They would change the internet for users for years to come. I am against allowing rate increases for Verisign. As a monopoly they will act in their own financial interest and not the public interest. They will max out the allowed increase whether justified or not. Keep the Obama era restrictions in place. Daryl Edmonds

Dear ICANN, ICANN has been granted governance over the domain system. Good governance means with consent of the governed and in their interests. In this case, the governed end users would very much like .com domains to stay inexpensive and reliable. The proposed conflict of interest between Verizon the .com domain operator and Verizon the future reseller of .com domain registration, will inevitably squeeze consumers and hurt competition. As long as Verizon has a monopoly over .com domain operation, it needs to stay regulated like a monopoly, with price caps. As a domain owner and affected end user, T. Bohl
