Good afternoon, I’m writing to voice my concern over the proposed .COM price increases, an issue I believe will deeply impact people’s freedom on the internet. Small business owners are already struggling to maintain profitability and this will place an additional burden on them. Content creators, educators, activists, and other categories of vulnerable or underepresented people will have yet another barrier to fight when wanting to start a positive, constructive project. To maintain a profitable, booming internet, we need to lower the barriers to access, not build them higher. Please take all these voices into account. Hello, I would like to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. I believe that the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. These price hikes will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Further, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Deals such as this are an abdication of that mandate; short sighted profit chasing at the expense of all else. Please do not adopt this proposal. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Silvan Bucher Luzern, Switzerland

Hi, As a consumer of domain registrations, I’m not supportive of the changes being considered for the contract with Verisign, Inc. My understanding is that this will result in potentially steep price increases for domain registration without clearly defined initiatives to support the security and stability of the system. In addition, it seems that this will give a great deal of power to Verisign, Inc. and place it in an overly dominant position within the domain registration hierarchy. Please, do not create conditions for Verisign to be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domain every year for 8 ou of the next 10 years. Remember, there are a lot of good humans among us, trying to have a good domain name to put into good use for everyone! Thank you.

Hi, i don't see why such a price surge is necessary. Costs for hosting get cheaper every year and there is no real invention or new technology happening in the domain registry space. I would understand if those price cuts would be turned into cheaper registration fees, not pretty steep increases. To whom it may concern, I am concerned about the potential increase in .com prices over the next 10 years. I don’t believe that all stakeholder groups have been properly considered or given sufficient voice before this decision was made. This decision has the potential to affect countless people across the next decade, and therefore greater transparency and greater stakeholder consideration is required. Regards, Melody
