I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. The current rate of $7.85 is already overpriced. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest and not the corporate one. As such, the price should be gradually decreasing, rather than increasing. Furthermore, there should be a healthy competition to Verisign's monopoly on .COM registry management. Sincerely, Peter

I wish to express my strong opposition to the ridiculously inflated .COM price hikes that are being proposed. They seem extremely unfair and increasingly awkward for small businesses in particular to cope with these increases. I'm very angry and disappointed with this shattering proposal.

I understand that ICANN is planning to renegotiate its contract with Verisign, Inc. who operate the .COM top-level-domain (TLD). I also understand that these changes have been planned in secret, without consulting or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. I strongly disapprove of this renegotiation process and hope that the ICANN will be more transparent. Laurence Anthony

In the end this price hike will impact the customer. This has a lot of similarities with the exhaustive cost of certificates. It doesn’t cost must to maintain a named infrastructure and the current pricing model should be enough to support it. Thank you

Raising prices in a vague open ended way is terrible for everyone except maybe you guys. I don’t mean potential competition but the whole economy will be affected. Greed in this way could shatter the dot com bubble and make things worse on those who are struggling for decades to come. No! Don’t do it.

I do not support the proposed amendment. There seems to be no particular benefit to end users like myself who run a small .com domain, and the only likely visible effect is an increase in prices. The price cap applies only until October 2026 and there appear to be no restrictions beyond that. It is also disheartening that at a time when prices for technology are consistently and constantly downwards, ICANN has reached a solution that involves increasing prices for end-users. ICANN is at the core of the Internet, which is ever-growing; there must surely be better ways of raising the revenue that ICANN needs without simply increasing prices for captive end-users who have no alternative. I would like to voice my objections to these price increases. If anything, these costs should have been going down over time. It is reprehensible to allow for this many increases and for such high amounts. This is going to compound the oligarchical problems in our society even more, for someone's greed. Stop listening to lobbyists and messing with all good things, like the internet. More people have .coms now then decades ago so more are already contributing, whereas storage space has gotten cheaper. These changes are completely unjustifiable. It's horrifying that they're being considered - do not allow this to pass.

I am a registrant of several .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. If Verisign won't cooperate, please find another .COM registry manager who will cooperate. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry - it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. I note this arrangement concluded in secret between ICANN and Verisign, with no clarity on what the benefits will be for .COM domain owners. If there is no clarification re how ICANN will spend the $20 million to improve the .COM space, who do you recommend all .COM domain holders should contact to protect their interests? I’m thinking FTC and Monopolies Commission, but if you have better suggestions I’d be very grateful. This kind of commercial behavior must be stopped in its tracks asap. Thank you, Mike Feury, .COM domain owner.
