Administrative costs for .com registration is minimal and covered by existing fees, several times over. This is rent-seeking and will put an undue burden on those of us with various .com domains.

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry, it has no business dictating the price. There is no technical or economic reason to increase domain registration costs - other than profit gouging. Please keep registration low cost and open to all.

The fact that this will allow Verisign to increase prices by up to 70% year over year is wrong. Then they will be able to compete against the very registrars that they are administering to will give them an unfair advantage and that will give them a virtual monopoly.Verisign giving you $20 million dollars amounts to bribery for you looking the other way. The form for comments is broken for users of online web base e-mail. No doubt to reduce complaints and ultimately "prove" there is no problem. For an organization that is responsible for handling our domain and numbering system for the global Internet you are acting immensely corrupt and broken.
