Dear Concerned, As a .COM domain user for many years I strongly object to the proposed amendment being carried out by you. It should be noted that .COM domains are a backbone to the Worldwide Internet community as it has become synonymous to the Internet for many people. In many parts of the World the other TLD's such as .NET , .ORG .CO etc. are not seen as a part of the internet. It's a request to ICANN to see the wider picture in a Global view with Under Developed and Low Internet penetration areas in focus. It should be noted that the Internet is a global phenomena and not just about the United States. Your proposed amendments to the .COM REGISTRY AGREEMENT with focus on funding and to suit a certain Private Commercial entity whose operations are limited to the United States of America is short sighted and seems to be malicious. Hence I strongly object to the proposed amendments to the .COM REGISTRY AGREEMENT and would request you to cease any such attempt in broader interest of the Global Internet Community. I am associated with the secondary market in domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Hello, I am writing to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. Despite there clearly being potential financial gains to be had by raising the registration fee on .com domains, the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. While price hikes such as this likely won't mean much to the larger business concerns that buy in bulk, it will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. At worst, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Deals such as this are an abdication of that mandate; short sighted profit chasing at the expense of all else. Please do not adopt this proposal. Thanks, James Sevener

ICANN Amendment Comment - I have been a registrant of multiple .com domain names over the last 20+ years, and would like to continue to use this TLD for business and personal uses due to its ubiquity and strong public understanding. I am strongly against the proposed price increase of .com domains. While this is in Verisign's best interest, it would have negative consequences for everyone else. The current rate of $7.85 already provides a generous amount of overhead vs. the minimal fee to process .com registrations. ICANN is not under direct government control, yet still wields great power equivalent of that which only government run organizations possess. This should provide even more incentive to operate the domain name system in the public interest. I believe that this proposal goes against the very nature of an open Internet by working exclusively with Verisign. ICANN should also be politically neutral and not roll back an agreement due to the fact that it was created under a different political party's administration. I would very much like to see an itemized cost list where you justify the raising of the prices of domains. How is the money being used, why do you need more? This decision comes across as a greedy one....you might take this as an opportunity to explain your case and perhaps get some more people on your side. Hello. I would like to voice my opinion with concern to the 3rd amendment. My reasoning behind this opinion is that websites are at the core of the internet, bringing everything together. The current price tag of around 7 dollars as it stands allows me, as a student, to create websites for school projects. Increasing this price tag can only benefit Verisign and in turn causes damages for small business owners. I believe every type of commerce should be able to create a website, including the small startups which could later increase significantly. For the reasons mentioned above, I oppose to this ammendment.
