I will be extremely brief. At issue are smaller entities which need their domain names. Increasing pricing will present undue burden to small businesses with a web presence. Having a web presence is already extremely expensive. Allowing verisign to increase rates much larger than inflation creates monopolistic behavior on part of the domain name issuer ripe for abuse. In order to have a usable internet as service with a diversity of content, costs must remain low. Thanks, J.R.

I'm sure this comment won't matter just like the thousands of others that have already commented voicing their concerns over the vague nature of these price increases and who truly stands to gain from them. Raising prices on .com domains significantly increases the costs and barrier to entry for small businesses to get an online presence and move into the 21st century/digital era. Although doubtful, I genuinely hope the contract is called off entirely. If not, at least 75% of the funds do go to improving the global root domain name system servers and infrastructure. If the funds don't get spent correctly, I hope the individuals involved are investigated by the SEC and properly reprimanded. What a sad society when money comes first.

To whom it may concern: I am very concerned with the proposal to increase the prices of .com addresses. I am a small blogger who makes little or no profit off my sites. By increasing the prices of .com addresses you will ultimately price people like me out of the marketplace. I cannot pay exorbitant prices to have a small blog. I am appalled that ICANN is even considering allowing this sale to go through. The damage to the reputation of the organization is back enough, but the total disregard for all the people who worked so hard to make the registry possible. It's a slap in the face to them and to the people who trusted your stewardship. The dot com TLD is the backbone of the internet - and apparently ICANN thinks that the cost for it should be controlled by a for profit corporation. Not only is this poor judgement but since you're making $20M off the deal - clearly you're not opposed to selling the internet to the highest bidder. Absolute power corrupts absolutely - how pathetic to think you would sell the internet TLDs for any amount of money. Totally disgusted by Maarten Botterman, León Sánchez and the rest of the greed mongers at ICANN. The whole Board should be removed for even considering this sale. Disgusting and corrupt. Pat Tiffin
