I am a registrant of a few .com domain names. As a new struggling entrepreneur, I have many costs to manage and .com domains should remain affordable, as we are dependent upon them for our success. Hello, I am just working on 3 starts ups, and I know that some of them may fail, but with the fair price that it actually is, I can afford to keep on working until I finally succeed, but this set a great limitation on my efforts, since it may takes years until I can make a revenue on them, to actually pay something that expensive. You may say that that $20 or a little more is not that much, but if I have to pay that for 5 domains it would be $100, and not to mention any other service to keep on running. I ask ICANN to please not remove price caps from .com domain registrations. The proposed 7% price rase per year is an astronomical amount to go up, and will make .com domains expensive and prohibitive to obtain and maintain. .com is the main domain of the internet, it makes up most of the TLD’s in existence, this change will affect a huge percentage of the internet community. ICANN is meant to serve the internet and its users, and to foster competition (which provides better products and pricing to users). This move along with the removal of price caps on previous domains (.org .info .biz) as well as the huge influx of new TLD’s many at ridiculous prices has not made for a better internet, but a more muddied and expensive one. Please stand up for the good of internet users. - Jeff McArthur

I admit I don't do much with bradjones.com and the 2 domains I've registered for my 16 year old daughters but to charge more for these is unfair. At least separate the usage by company size or something else. It will be a burden to the average people in many cases, and I LOATHE Facebook.

Hi I am writing to object to the deal ICANN is making with Verisign to allow increasing of prices on .com TLDs. It's wrong that one single company is given a total monopoly on selling something and setting it's price. It's effectively a license to print money without any competition for free market pricing. There's no option for domain owners to choose a cheaper alternative because there are none. Domain owners are held to ransom and have to pay ever increasing prices for the profit of one company (and ICANN) as there's no alternative. It seems wrong anyway that you have to continually pay each year to have a domain name rather then owning it outright after a single payment but to have no choice but to keep paying endlessly rising prices for it each year is even worse. I am associated with a registry. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. I have just read the proposal. The first thing that comes to mind, is who profits from this? And what do we, as domain owners, get for our money? Better security? Better service? What do we get? Explain this in detail, that is, to us. And why is this better. If current or former members, say of ICAAN and/or Verisign, in investment roles or otherwise get more cash in the pocket because of this, and that's all it's about, I see a conflict of interest that needs to be addressed. If this is just about money, then I object as it's not in my best interest. Please re-work this agreement. Thanks. Winfred Heller wheller(a)hellersconsulting.com

I understand that, according to this new agreement, Verisign will be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains every year for eight out of the next ten years. I do not support this. I use .COM domains for a very small business, for personal purposes, and even for an open-source project web site. (You could object I should use .ORG for some of those -- but that situation is also a mess now.) If ICANN wants funding for specific projects, it should explain what and why, and ask for contributions. I might be willing to contribute that way -- transparently, Instead, the way you are going about this seems unfair to consumers of .COM domains -- as well as to registrars, among whom less competition will also ultimately be unfair to consumers like me. Please shine some sunlight on your decision-making process. Please do the right thing. Thank you.
