Icann, don't destroy yourself! Don't increase prices again. Any additional price hike will only destroy your business. All efforts to replace domain registration game with blockchain like solution will be accelerated if you do this. On contrary, if you decrease price instead, you may actually stay in position little longer and increase profits. Vaclav

To whom it may concern, The recently proposed amendment 3 to the .COM registry agreement is very troubling. The proposed ability to increase the price year after year for the next decade will be detrimental to people like myself. A proposed small increase would be understandable, but what is proposed is excessive. I also think the additional ability for Verisign to operate a domain resgistrar itself while controlling the majority of .COM domains gives Verisign too much power to influence and control pricing, which will come at the expense of everyone else. On it's face, when taken into account with the $20M Verisign agreed to pay ICANN over the next five years, these amendments appear self serving and corrupt. I work in IT and web development. As a small business owner myself, I deal with purchasing domain names for myself as well as clients. These proposed amendments could really harm people like me. I am a domainer (I invest in domain names as a business). I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Hello there, I am currently a registrant of a few .com domains. If the .com purpose is commercial use, it will have a negative impact on small businesses and entrepreneurs. As a young man I was able to start an online business due to the fact that that domains and other online services such as web hosting were available to purchase without having extortionate prices. If the prices were to increase this will help established businesses further monopolise the industries and not give entrepreneurs a chance. I am against the price increases to the .com domain extension. The .com domains should be available to everyone at a low price no matter how rich or poor. The current pricing is already at a high level. On top of that domain resellers charge extra, to a point where maintaining a domain is a considerable expense. I propose that you lower the current pricing, to make it more affordable. Please do not raise the .com price. Thank you Zilvinas Pikelis

I am appalled that ICANN and Verisign, organizations that have been trusted for decades to help monitor and expand the internet, have decided to unilaterally increase prices for domain names. Without so much as listening to what the effect on people would be. This will dramatically, and very detrimentally inhibit several smaller companies and individuals from effectively sharing their ideas, experience, and technology. I implore you to not continue with this decision. The internet, and information should be free to all. Not a commodity to be sold at whatever rate some greedy board members decide it should. To whom it may concern: Please reconsider any proposed increases in the price of .com domains. A vast number of .com holders are small business owners who would see a negative impact on their operating expense, and may not be able to afford such an increase, forcing many to lose their presence on the web. Again, please reconsider your decision, even though such a decision would certainly mean more profit for you. You can afford it - we can not. Thank you. Lawrence Moore

I am a registrant of a few .com domain names. I am strongly against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. There are many thousands if not millions of well established domains registered to to small time independent, non-commercial individuals like me of limited financial resources who registered their .COM domains a long time ago when the choice of top level domains was severely limited. A .COM name offered the best value for us as even then there was a premium placed on other top level names like .ORG. I am aware that "non-commercial" is a direct contradiction of what ".COM" is supposed to be for. However, it has become the "default" of many registrants for many reasons. Perhaps, like me, they didn't legitimately qualify as a ".ORG" entity. Even legitimate non-profit organizations often buy .COM alternatives to their .ORG name because so many users automatically type ".com" even when ".org" would be more appropriate and would be just as functional. A significant price hike on .COM domain names would cause a great hardship for many small time independent, non-commercial individuals like me, as well as for many non-profit and philanthropic organizations. .COM price hikes are contrary to the public interest.
